'BIGGEST' GAME IN HAMMONDby Mike MillerNovember 12, 2009 - The temperature is rising at Southeastern Louisiana University, and we don’t mean its cold and flu season. The Fighting Lions are set for the biggest game since football returned to the Hammond campus in 2003. Saturday, November 14, the Lions host Stephen F. Neville High School Football & Recruitsby Lee BrecheenNovember 11, 2009 - This is the most talented team I’ve seen in a long time at Neville High School. This team has a big time QB Taylor Burch, big time skill players in RB Cedrico Pollard, WRS, Jeremy Runner, and Brandon Calhoun, a veteran offensive line and a great defense, that’s cat quick to the ball, lead by veteran LB Waderrious Sellers, DB Charles Blade, the veteran defensive line of DT Brandon Collins, .DE Duke Guillory, and DT Simeon Stevenson. Mattew Sguyres the K, has a cannon leg, and has been consistent for over three years kicking for the team. I put Neville in the same class for having weapons on offense at the skill positions like teams as West Monroe, Central, Lutcher, Breaux Bridge, and Edna Karr and John Curtis High School.

Crusading: One Step at a Timeby Taylor Williams October 30, 2009 - All coaches know that championships aren’t won overnight, regardless of the sport, the players, or the competition. But what about defending them? According to Mark Bonis, head football coach of the Brother Martin Crusaders, defending championships is even more difficult than winning them.
|
Playing Offensive Defenseby Taylor Williams October 29, 2009 - The 5A Catholic League is a metaphorical battleground where teams meet once a week to duke it out till the bitter end. In a world where competition is incredibly stiff and every team a contender, all teams must have a coherent plan of attack, and no one understands that more than Wade Keiser, head coach of the Jesuit Blue Jays.

The Bear Bondby Courtney Maciasz
September 18, 2009 - Catholic High School in Baton Rouge, a well known traditional football powerhouse, continuously churns out talented players who go on to dot football rosters at colleges and universities across the country. While in addition to being widely respected for its academic prowess, the members of the CHS student body have graduated with more than academic and football knowledge, but a deeper understanding and appreciation of the meaning of friendship.

UL Blogby Kimberly Wooten September 18, 2009 - In U.S. sports terminology, "clutch" means performing well under extreme pressure. It’s often referred to as increased playmaking in a critical game. Being "clutch" is often seen by sportswriters, fans, and athletes themselves as an innate skill which some players either “got it or they don't.” On September 12, 2009 with 32 seconds left in the game and a crowd of over 16,000 on their feet, junior place kicker Tyler Albrecht definitely had "it". |

September 18, 2009 - The St. Michael the Arc Angel Warriors in Baton Rouge should be excited for the 2009 football season with all 11 starters returning on offense, including 4-year starter Jeremy Meyer at quarterback. Meyers took over the quarterback position in the middle of his freshman year four years ago, and things have only looked up for him since. As Meyers enters his senior year at St. Michael’s he is entertaining offers to play collegiate football from several schools. However, like one of his favorite professional athletes, Peyton Manning, Meyers remains poised and focused on |
