Reid is from Harvey, LA and went to Brother Martin High School. He played men's NAIA soccer at LSU Shreveport for his first 2 years college. His junior year, Reid transferred to Baton Rouge and graduated from LSU with a Sports Administration Degree. He started with LAFM as an Intern in April 2013 and was hired in October. Reid loves anything to do with sports (Saints, Pelicans, and Liverpool FC Fan), the outdoors, and family/friends.

4A Offensive Players of the Year, Tyron Johnson and Deshawn Capers-Smith

Hunter Bedgood, Christian Campbell, Deshawn Capers-Smith, Shea Patterson, Tyron Johsnon

Warren Easton QB Deshawn Capers-Smith and WR Tyron Johnson were two of the most electrifying players in the entire state in 2014. Deshawn passed for 4,333 yards and 50 touchdowns while only throwing 2 INTs. He also rushed for 1318 yards and 21 TDs. Tyron caught caught 94 passes for 1,589 yards and 17 touchdowns. He was also a spectacular kick and punt returner with several return touchdowns.

Al Jones, St. Augustine Purple Knights, St. Augustine High School, St. Augustine Football

St. Augustine High School has a long tradition of outstanding football coaches going all the way back to Legendary Coach Otis Washington. In February, the school hired one of their own in Coach Al Jones who graduated from St. Augustine in 1975. Coach Jones has been in the coaching and/or education for over 30 years. I got to sit down with Coach Jones and ask him a couple questions last week.

4A Defensive Player of the Year, P/LB Jordan White

Jordan White, Benton High School

Benton High Schools P/LB Jordan White is our 4A Defensive Player of the Year. The tigers had one of the best defenses in all of 4A in 2014. One of the biggest factors was Jordan. Jordan punted the ball 64 times: 40.3 avg, 13 punts over 50 yards, 5 punts over 60, 12 punts inside 20, 9 punts inside the 10. He also added an impressive 67 tackles, 20 TFL, 2 INTs, 4 pass break ups, 1 FR, 1 INT returned for a TD.

3A Defensive Player of the Year, DE Jalen Bates

Jalen Bates, Kaplan High School

Kaplan High School's Jalen Bates is our 3A Defensive Player of the Year. The DE was a disruptive force for the pirates all year long in 2014. It seemed like every play Jalen ended up in the opponents backfield. He finished the season with 67 tackles, 43 tackles for loss, 18.5 sacks, 2 forced fumbles, and 1 INT. Jalen will be playing for the Arizona State Sun Devils next season where he will look to make an instant impact.

3A Offensive Player of the Year, RB Devin White

Devin White, North Webster High School

North Webster's RB/LB Devin White is our 3A Offensive Player of the Year. The 6'2 235 kid may be the hardest player to tackle in the entire state. Devin also has outstanding speed and quickness between the tackles. He finished the season with 2,287 yards, and 30 TDs. He also played LB where he made 90 tackles and 2 INTs (1 returned for a TD). Devin is definitely one of the kids to watch out for this upcoming season.

2A Defensive Player of the Year, SS Caleb Vidrine

Opelousas Catholic's SS/RB Caleb Vidrine is our 2A Defensive Player of the year. Caleb had an outstanding career for viking with over 3oo tackles in the last 2 seasons. He flies to the ball and knows how to lay a hit. He finished the 2014 season with 145 tackles, 15 sacks, 1 INT, 2 forced fumbles, and 2 fumble recoveries.

2A Offensive Player of the Year, QB Shea Patterson

Cavalry Baptist football, Shea Patterson

QB Shea Patterson was our 2A Offensive Player of the Year. The Calvary Baptist player is rated as one of the top 2016 QBs in the entire Country. Shea has a strong arm, quick feet, smarts, and an uncanny pocket presence. He passed for 2428 yards and 38 Touchdowns and only 3 INTs last season. He could be even better this upcoming season. The Ole Miss Commit is a must see in 2015 for high school football fans.

1A Defensive Player of the Year, Malcolm Roach

Malcolm Roach, Madison Prep Academy

Malcolm Roach was our 2014 1A Defensive Player of the Year. The Madison Prep player had an absolutely outstanding year terrorizing every offense he went up against. Malcolm finished the season with 134 tackles, 27 tackles for loss, 20 sacks, 7 forced fumbles, 4 fumble recoveries and a total of 3 defensive touchdowns.

New! 1A Offensive Player of the Year, Hunter Bedgood

Hunter Bedgood, St. Mary's Football, St. Mary's High School

In case you missed our Offensive Player of the Year Award Show, Hunter Bedgood was our 1A winner. Hunter had a special year rushing for 1939 yards, 27 TDs, and nine 2-point conversions. He also had 70 tackles playing defense. I am looking forward to watching him play with Northwestern State next year.
