Notable Nagles

1968 in Gloster, Mississippi a senior football player at Gloster High School, was catching people’s attention. His name was John Nagle. Nagle would go on to play at LSU for 4 years where he was a part of the legendary victory over Notre Dame in in 1971. He would also become a coaching legend in Louisiana coaching for Central High, Nichols State, McNeese State, Northwestern State, and Zachary High ( where he coaches today). Ronnie Estay played at LSU from 1968-1972 and made his career in the CFL. He Won 5 Grey Cups with the Edmonton Eskimos! Coach Barrett Murphy is a legendary coach from south Louisiana. He coached Catholic High, Belaire, and East Ascension. At the college level, he coached the defensive line (also strength coach) at Nicholls and McNeese. 5A Offensive Player of the Year, Derrius Guice

Derrius Guice, Catholic High School

Catholic High School's RB Derrius Guice won our 5A Offensive Player of the Year Award. Guice is the definition of SEC Running Back. He is powerful, fast, tough, and knows how to run in between the tackles. Derrius rushed for 1,331 yards and 20 Touchdowns(Note: Derrius only played 1 half in many of these games). He also had 38 catches for 521 yards, 9 TDs and 1 punt return for a TD. I am really excited to see this kid play for the Tigers next year.

1A Defensive Player of the Year, Malcolm Roach

Malcolm Roach, Madison Prep Academy

Malcolm Roach was our 2014 1A Defensive Player of the Year. The Madison Prep player had an absolutely outstanding year terrorizing every offense he went up against. Malcolm finished the season with 134 tackles, 27 tackles for loss, 20 sacks, 7 forced fumbles, 4 fumble recoveries and a total of 3 defensive touchdowns.
