5A Offensive Player of the Year, Derrius Guice

Derrius Guice, Catholic High School

Catholic High School's RB Derrius Guice won our 5A Offensive Player of the Year Award. Guice is the definition of SEC Running Back. He is powerful, fast, tough, and knows how to run in between the tackles. Derrius rushed for 1,331 yards and 20 Touchdowns(Note: Derrius only played 1 half in many of these games). He also had 38 catches for 521 yards, 9 TDs and 1 punt return for a TD. I am really excited to see this kid play for the Tigers next year.

4A Offensive Players of the Year, Tyron Johnson and Deshawn Capers-Smith

Hunter Bedgood, Christian Campbell, Deshawn Capers-Smith, Shea Patterson, Tyron Johsnon

Warren Easton QB Deshawn Capers-Smith and WR Tyron Johnson were two of the most electrifying players in the entire state in 2014. Deshawn passed for 4,333 yards and 50 touchdowns while only throwing 2 INTs. He also rushed for 1318 yards and 21 TDs. Tyron caught caught 94 passes for 1,589 yards and 17 touchdowns. He was also a spectacular kick and punt returner with several return touchdowns.

3A Offensive Player of the Year, RB Devin White

Devin White, North Webster High School

North Webster's RB/LB Devin White is our 3A Offensive Player of the Year. The 6'2 235 kid may be the hardest player to tackle in the entire state. Devin also has outstanding speed and quickness between the tackles. He finished the season with 2,287 yards, and 30 TDs. He also played LB where he made 90 tackles and 2 INTs (1 returned for a TD). Devin is definitely one of the kids to watch out for this upcoming season.

2A Defensive Player of the Year, SS Caleb Vidrine

Opelousas Catholic's SS/RB Caleb Vidrine is our 2A Defensive Player of the year. Caleb had an outstanding career for viking with over 3oo tackles in the last 2 seasons. He flies to the ball and knows how to lay a hit. He finished the 2014 season with 145 tackles, 15 sacks, 1 INT, 2 forced fumbles, and 2 fumble recoveries.
