Muse emerging as game leader at Central Private

October 14, 2009 - Bobby Muse Jr. is a senior Running Back and Defensive Back at Central Private High School. Under Coach Mike Longmire, Muse has been a key player in the few years rushing for 1775 yards and 26 touchdowns in his junior season. Muse has also started his senior year successfully with 1107 yards and 16 touchdowns in only 6 games.
 

In 2007, Muse was an All District Running Back, All Metro Team Running Back, and 1st Team All District. In 2008, he was awarded 1st Team All District MVP, the All Metro Offensive MVP Rebel Award, and 2nd Team All State. Now, in 2009, He is a 200 Meter State Champion and Track MVP.

MK: How did your early years in football shape the player you have become today?
BM: I learned discipline, how to be a leader and how to recognize all of your strengths.

MK: What draws you to the sport of football?
BM: The excitement, the competition, the preparation, the heart pounding moments.... I love it!

MK: Is there anyone who has influenced you throughout your years of play?
BM: Jimmy Williams (former Defensive Back for the Houston Texans) influenced me to be the best that I can be. He advised me in many areas of life that I will carry with me. His experience and guidance have helped to mold me and be very successful on and off the field.

MK: What has been your proudest moment?
BM: Earlier in this season I rushed for 373 yards on 18 carries and 4 Td’s against Huntington High School in Ferriday, La. The atmosphere was great.

MK: How have your coaches helped you develop as a player?
BM: They pushed me beyond my expectations, they also taught me how to be patient and wait for the holes to develop.

MK: What is it like being on your team?
BM: It is a great experience and privilege as well as an honor. The thing I love most is "We believe in team" and that is our team motto. There's no big I's and little U's. We have great chemistry as a team. It's like family.

MK: What would you like fans to know about you?
BM: I enjoy what I do, I am a respectful honorable young man. I'm like a regular teenager. I love to eat, to go the movies and go to vacations to Florida. I am the same person on and off the field.

MK: What do you do for strength and conditioning?
BM: I run a lot of short distances, and do a lot of agility workouts. I do a lot of intense weight workout exercises for strength with Coach Carl DiJohn.

MK: What was your off-season program like?
BM: In the off-season I mainly worked on my strength and conditioning and went to a lot of college football camps.

MK: What are your personal goals for the 2009 season?
BM: My personal goals are to be the best that I can be, rush for over 2000 yards, and take my team to the state championship this season.

MK: What are your plans after high school?
BM: To attend a Division I College major in Architecture Design and to play football as well.

MK: Are you apart of any other organizations or clubs?
BM: I am President of Junior Usher Board Beech Grove Baptist Church, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Urban Youth Organization, and a mentor with intercepting Our Youth Foundation.

MK: Have any of your family members played for NFL or College football programs?
BM: Jimmy Williams (former Defensive Back for Houston Texans), Lester Ricard Buffalo Bills, Cardia Jackson (A Senior, Linebacker at University of Monroe)

MK: What is your favorite stadium to play in?
BM: Huntington Field

MK: Do you have any pre-game rituals?
BM: I get by myself and listen to music. Then I usually zone out any distractions so I can be mentally ready for the game.

MK: Who is you favorite pro team?
BM: Philadelphia Eagles I’ve always loved them since I was a kid.

 

MK: Do you have a favorite Player?
BM: Terrell Owens T. O.!!!!!!!!

MK: What is the best advice you have ever been given when it comes to the game?
BM: Put God first in all you do. Don't ever think you are bigger than the game. Always listen to your coaches even if you know it already. Most of all play each game as if it's your last.
