Louisiana College Football Spotlight: QB Brad Henderson, Northwestern State Demons

March 14, 2012 – In 2011, I thought one of the most impressive performances for a QB with hardly any experience on the road in Tiger Stadium was QB Brad Henderson of Northwestern State.  The 5-11 junior college transfer displayed a lot of poise playing his first college road game and never seemed rattled the entire game in a hostile sold out Tiger Stadium against the LSU Tigers.

I really like this kid’s chances of becoming the complete QB this program has lacked since Craig Nall played a few years ago.  With his feet in the pocket, his toughness, his calm demeanor, and a very underrated arm, Northwestern State has a chance to do some really good things in 2012.

You can talk to a lot of college football coaches and people who know football, and one of the most common things you hear when talking about how good a team might be going into spring before the new season is “I will show you a good team if it has a good experienced QB coming back that can lead.”

I love this kid’s toughness.  At 5-11 and a tough built 210 pounds, he basically has a running back’s body to run with power, and he looks good in the pocket as a passer.  In 2011, he had 1,853 passing yards and set the record for completions with 178.

Senior Brad Henderson’s leadership and staying healthy will be the key for a great season in Natchitoches, Louisiana, for 2012.
