Week 4 Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week!

Our team at Louisiana Football Magazine will be selecting an Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week for each class (5A-1A) every week.  Once selected, they are announced on our TV Show live on Tuesday and then on our website the following Sunday. (Note: this post is for Week 4 while this past weekend was week 5).For the first announcement for our players of the week, tune into our show which goes live on Tuesday in Baton Rouge, Lafayette, and New Orleans on Cox Channel 4.  Listings for all other areas around the state can be seen at the bottom of this post.

Week 4

1A-Offense-Ja’Ceiry Linzer RB, Ascension Episcopal: 345 yards and 4 touchdowns in win over Hanson Memorial

1A-Defense-Christopher Major DB, White Castle: 1 interception, 70 yard punt return for a td, 16 tackles in win over Westminster Academy

 

2A-Offense-Miguel Black RB/DB, Northlake Christian: 216 rushing yards, 2 touchdowns, 1 interception in close win over Springfield

2A-DefenseDavid Fishwater DE/OT, Cavalary Baptist: 11 tackles, 1 forced fumble, 1 sack, 4 QB pressures in win over Lagrange.

 

3A-Offense-Devon Benn RB, John Curtis: 269 rushing yards, 1 touchdown in win over Edna Karr

3A-Defense-BJ Gaines DE, Parkview Baptist: 11 tackles, 1 sack, 3 forced fumbles, 2 recovered fumbles in win over Baker

 

4A-Offense-Cole Kelly QB, Teurlings Catholic: 4 touchdowns and 324 passing yards in win over Cecilia

4A-Defense-Jordan White P/DB, Benton High School: 7 total punts for a 44 yard average, 3 punts pinned inside the opponents 20 yard line, 3 tackles, PAT in win over North Desoto

 

5A-Offense-Trey Ragas RB, Archbishop Shaw: 268 rushing yards, 6 rushing touchdowns in win over Higgins

5A-Defense-Kristian Fulton DB, Archbishop Rummel: 1 solo tackle, 4 assists, 2 total interceptions, 2nd interception was made with 1:28 in the 4th quarter and sealed the win. First game back from injury in win over Catholic High

About Reid Althage

Reid is from Harvey, LA and went to Brother Martin High School. He played men's NAIA soccer at LSU Shreveport for his first 2 years college. His junior year, Reid transferred to Baton Rouge and graduated from LSU with a Sports Administration Degree. He started with LAFM as an Intern in April 2013 and was hired in October. Reid loves anything to do with sports (Saints, Pelicans, and Liverpool FC Fan), the outdoors, and family/friends.
