Bolton High School Head Coach Reynolds Moore

May 4, 2012 – I had a chance to go through Alexandria on my way to Shreveport last week, and I really enjoyed my time at Peabody, Northwood Lena, and Bolton High Schools.

Bolton High School has some pretty good players coming up for the 2012 season.  There’s not a lot of depth, but quality kids.  I was able to talk to the principal, Misty Slayter, who was very helpful in letting me talk to their top recruits.  Head Coach Reynolds Moore was teaching, but I was able to tell him hello.  Coach Reynolds Moore is from Carthage, Mississippi.  Coach Moore is a good, young coach, he just needs more numbers for his football team.

At Peabody High School, I met the new Head Football Coach, Anthony Hicks, who’s from Hattiesburg, Mississippi, and is a nice young coach.  I enjoyed talking about some of the great players to come out of Hattiesburg over the years, and his current program at Peabody.  Peabody has some really good and young skill lineman coming up in the program.  The athletic director and Head Boys Basketball coach, Charles Smith, was very helpful in introducing me to everyone at the school.  Coach Smith’s resume is great.  As a Head Basketball coach he won 5 State Championships for Peabody High School.  He really liked Johnny Jones, the new hire at LSU.

Northwood Lena High School is home to Head Coach Tom O’Kelly who is entering his 23rd year at the school as Head Football coach.  Tom does just about everything for the school. He cuts the grass on site and helps coach just about every sport at the school.  Northwood Lena is a Pre-K through 12 school that has some of the best facilities in the state for a school that is one of the smallest enrollment 1A schools in Louisiana.  This school has three gyms on site and a lot of land behind the school for their Softball and Baseball Stadiums.  I enjoyed talking to their players which again will only consist of 18 to 20 kids overall. Tom O’Kelly does a fine job of working with what he has every year for football. Coach Tom O’Kelly has one football assistant, and that’s the Head Girls Basketball coach, Shelia Monk, who really does a great job at the school.

Next week I will grade the top Offensive Lineman in the state of Louisiana and write about their talents.
