Interview with Caidon Cambell
by Reid Althage
LAFM: Name, position, school?
My name is Caidon Campbell, and I played LB/TE for Lakeview High School. Next year I will be playing for Louisiana College.
LAFM: Current height and weight?
6-1, 160 lbs
LAFM: Any notable statistics or honors this past season?
This past season I had 87 solo tackles, 35 assists, 2 INTs, and 4 sacks. I made First Team All-District LB, and then Second Team All-District TE.
LAFM: What position does Louisiana College want you to play?
They want me to play LB.
LAFM: Why did you choose Louisiana College?
I have always wanted to play football in college. I always felt like if only one college called me then that is where I would be going. Louisiana College gave me a call. I loved Coach (Dennis) Dunn. He seems like a great coach and great guy. The team is coming off a winning season and are doing a lot of great things. I liked that it was a small school and that I really felt at home.
LAFM: Who are some people that stand out as major factors in choosing Louisiana College?
Number one would be my dad. He helps me with everything. The next two would probably be my coaches: Head Coach (Delaine) Yocum and Coach (Ryan) Porter. Coach Porter actually left this year, but he was always calling on colleges for me. He helped me even when he was coaching for another team.
LAFM: What do you bring as a player to the Louisiana College football program?
On defense, I bring the beast out. I am aggressive and a good tackler. I am not one to shy away from the weight room. Working out is probably my favorite thing to do besides actually playing football. Mentally, I am good at grasping what the coaches want me to do. I am also great at reading the game. I am a leader and hard worker as well.
LAFM: What are you most excited about going into next year?
Since I was a kid, I always dreamed about playing college football. I have always wanted to be under the lights at a college level. Now I am going to fulfill that dream.
LAFM: What advice can you give the 2015 class on their recruitment process?
I would tell them to never quit. Do the best you can and play football to the best of your ability. Hopefully, everything will work out.
LAFM: How did Lakeview High School prepare you for college and playing football at the next level?
I am really glad I went to Lakeview. I have had a few different coaches with my junior/senior year being the first with the same head coach. They have all done a great job and turned me into the player I am today. The school itself is a great school. The teachers do an excellent job. I am actually the first football player from Lakeview High to go play college football in over 10 years. I am really proud and hope we produce more players in the future.
