LAFM: Name, position, school?

My name is Deldrick Canty, and I played DE/FB for Scottlandville High School.

LAFM: Current height and weight?

6-3,   260 lbs

LAFM: Current ACT score and GPA?

3.5 GPA  17 ACT

LAFM: Max bench, and max squat,?

My max bench is 350, and max squat is 515.

LAFM: How did the season go for you and the team?

It went very well. I had a great experience as a senior and leader of our team. The coaches were always behind me having me do what I needed to do. Our team came up a little short in the end, but we are young and overall the season went well.

LAFM: What has been your best game this season?

My best game was all of them. I played as hard as I could every single game. I wanted to make sure I played well in each game.

LAFM: Who is your favorite football player of all time?

I like Jadeveon Clowney and Marcus Spears. Clowney reminds me of myself. He works hard and takes responsibility. As for Spears, he is just an awesome player. He does everything correctly while still having a great swag and style.

LAFM: How old were you when you started playing and where?

I was 6 or 7 when I started playing flag football.

LAFM: Do you have any family members or friends that have had a big influence on you as you play football?

My mother. She just showed me how to take responsibility and never quit. I took that from her and have ran with it ever since.

LAFM: If football does not work out for you, what do you see yourself doing? Have you thought of a major in college? Why?

I want to go into Criminal Justice. I could become a police officer or an FBI agent. It seems like something I could do for a long time and enjoy.

LAFM: Are there any schools that are recruiting you? What do you like about them?

My top 5 would be Southern, LA Tech, LSU, ULL, and University of Central Florida. My favorite right now is LA Tech. I like how they have stayed in contact with me. They make me feel like I have known them for so long. We just have a bond and a really good relationship.

LAFM: What positions are you being recruited for? What is your favorite positions and why?

I am being recruited as a DE. It is a simple position to play where I can focus on my job.

LAFM: What do you bring to whichever school you choose to go play for?

I bring good leadership, responsibility, a great communicator, and a good vibe/attitude to a team that already has it. I just want to go in and make the team better.

LAFM: Looking back at this past year, what made this years team special?

The one thing that stands out was that our team was very young. Still, coach told us we could accomplish whatever we wanted. We took what he said and ran with it. Next year I think Scotlandville has a chance to go all the way.
