LAFM: Name, position, school?
My name is Johnnie Marsaw, and I am a DL for Bastrop High School.
LAFM: Current weight and height?
6-2 250 lbs
LAFM: Current ACT score and GPA?
20 ACT 3.5 GPA
LAFM: 40 yard dash, max bench, max squat, max clean?
I run a 4.9 40-yard dash. My max bench is 275, and I have never fully maxed out on squat, but I know I can at least squat 500 lbs.
LAFM: What has been your best game this season?
My best game was against Pearl High School (Pearl, MS). I had 2 sacks and several tackles.
LAFM: Who is your favorite football player of all time?
Dwight Freeney- He has amazing explosiveness which makes him exciting to watch
LAFM: How old were you when you started playing and where?
I was 6 when I started to play flag football in Dallas, Texas.
LAFM: Do you have any family members or friends that have had a big influence on you as you play football?
I played with Denzel Devall who now plays for Alabama. I have known him for most of my life and knew him well in high school. I got a chance to play with him when he was a senior, and I was a sophomore. He has always been a person I look up to. He is a big inspiration in continuing my football career.
LAFM: If football does not work out for you, what do you see yourself doing? Have you thought of a major in college?
I am going to major in computer science. Although I am not sure what specifically I want to do, I really enjoy technology and computers. Also, computer science is a good degree for getting a job right out of college.
LAFM: Are there any schools that are recruiting you? Do you have any favorites?
I am committed to McNeese. It is not too big and not too small. They have 13 championships, and I really liked the coaching staff. I can see myself really focusing in their environment and excelling myself.
LAFM: What positions are you being recruited for? What is your favorite positions and why?
I am being recruited to play on the Defensive Line. I have no preference and will adjust to play anywhere they want me.
LAFM: What was something special about your team this year?
I really thought Coach (Lemarcus) Williams was a great position coach. He played for Mississippi State and knows how to teach. He really helped me better my game and develop my technique.
LAFM: Outside of football, what makes your school special?
People do not realize it but we have a lot of smart students at our high school. The students are kind of overlooked due to our football program.
