LAFM: Name, position, school?

My name is Garrett Brumfield. I played OL for University Laboratory School, and I am committed to Louisiana State University.

LAFM: Current height and weight?

6-4,  287 lbs

LAFM: Current ACT score and GPA?

26 ACT   3.1 GPA

LAFM: Max bench, max squat, and max clean?

I have not maxed since before the season started. At that time, I squatted 535, benched 345, and cleaned 340.

LAFM: How did the season go for you and the team?

Overall it was pretty good. Personally, I had alot of individual goals I wanted to accomplish and feel as though I did. As a team, we wanted to win a State Championship and came up one step short. Still, overall I though we had a real successful season.

LAFM: What was your favorite games this season?

My favorite games this season were both against Parkview Baptist who we played in week 6 and in the semifinals. I played some of my best football in those two games. Recently, we have developed somewhat of a small rivalry with them. They are a good school with a great program. I am proud that our team was able to play well against them both times.

LAFM: Who is your favorite football player of all time?

Bruce Campbell-He was a great player in college when he played for the Maryland Terps. He was drafted by the Raiders and now plays for the Panthers. The guy has both a great personality and a great skill set. He is really athletic and really mobile which is hard to find in the average Offensive Lineman.

LAFM: How old were you when you started playing and where?

I was 8 when I played for the Baton Rouge REC League. My team was the Baton Rouge Saints.

LAFM: Do you have any family members or friends that have had a big influence on you as you play football?

Although not necessarily in football, my dad has been a great influence on me. He is just a great father and mentor who has taught me the difference between right and wrong.

LAFM: If football does not work out for you, what do you see yourself doing? Have you thought of a major in college? Why?

I plan on majoring in Sports Administration. I enjoy it and it opens up a couple different options and not one thing. I do not want to be limited to just football. I want to be able to have a few different fields I can go into once I graduate.

LAFM: You are committed to LSU. Why did you choose the Tigers?

LSU is just a great place. I am from Baton Rouge and of course have many great connections to the school. The program has a great football team with great tradition. They have alot of wins and several national championships. I really look forward to playing with the Tigers next year.

LAFM: What positions are you being recruited for?

I will be playing the Guard positions and probably LG.

LAFM: What do you bring to LSU’s football team?

You know I have been told I am a natural leader. I try always to be a leader and a good teammate. I trust the guy next to me to get his job done and do my best to raise the confidence of those around me. I want to make sure my teammates know we can get the job done as long as we can do it together.

LAFM: What made this years team at University Lab special?

I would say the chemistry with our team. Since I have been here, this team has had the best chemistry than anyone I have ever been on. Everyone was treated as an equal whether you were a freshman or a senior. Everyone had a role to play and everyone did that role to the best of their ability.
