LAFM: Name, position, school?

My name is Jahmal Macklin, and I play DE/TE for Block High School.

 

LAFM: Current weight and height?

6-4,  203 lbs

 

LAFM: Current ACT score and GPA?

22 ACT  GPA 3.0

 

LAFM: 40 yard dash, Max Bench Press, Max cleans, Max Squat?

I run a 4.7/40 yard dash. My max bench is 225, squat 405, and clean is 255.

 

LAFM: How is the season going for you and your team?

It is going ok. We would love to be undefeated, but that is just not the case. We did win last week so things are looking up.

 

 

 

LAFM: What has been your best game so far this season?

My best game was against Jena High School. I made a ton of tackles.

 

LAFM: Who is your favorite football player of all time?

Marquevious Mingo-Our body shapes are the same and we play the same way.

 

LAFM: How old were you when you started playing and where?

11, I was playing little league.

 

LAFM: Do you have any family members or friends that have had a big influence on you as you play football?

My uncle, William Cummings JR, is a redshirt freshman at Northwestern University. My uncle is a big inspiration to me. He is always driving and motivating me to do my best. He has always been their for support and to teach me.

 

LAFM: If football does not work out for you, what do you see yourself doing? Have you thought of a major in college?

I want to go into accounting.

 

LAFM: Are there any schools that are recruiting you? Do you have any favorites?

I am being recruited by LSU, Southeastern, Northwestern, ULL, ULM, Tulane, Army, McNeese, and LA Tech. I have no favorites as of now.

 

LAFM: What positions are you  being recruited for? What is your favorite positions and why?

Some colleges are looking at me as a DE while some look at me as an OLB. I prefer DE because that is where I play mostly now. Still, I played LB last year and did enjoy it.


LAFM: what makes your school special?

I have a lot of family and friends that are connected through the school. Everybody knows everybody. Teachers are always helpful, positive and supportive. The teachers and parents all know each other, and everyone is on the same page.

Reid is from Harvey, LA and went to Brother Martin High School. He played men's NAIA soccer at LSU Shreveport for his first 2 years college. His junior year, Reid transferred to Baton Rouge and graduated from LSU with a Sports Administration Degree. He started with LAFM as an Intern in April 2013 and was hired in October. Reid loves anything to do with sports (Saints, Pelicans, and Liverpool FC Fan), the outdoors, and family/friends.
