LAFM: Name, position, school?

My name is Jordan Shaffer, and I am a QB for Benton High School.

LAFM: Current weight and height?

6-2  170 lbs

LAFM: Current ACT score and GPA?

27 ACT  GPA 4.0

LAFM: 40 yard dash?

4.5 40-yard dash

LAFM: How did the season go for you and the team?

I think it went well. We installed a new offense and adjusted well considering the short amount of time we had. The younger guys got a year of the offense under their belt which will be good for next year. The other seniors and I were glad to make it to the playoffs and really enjoyed the year.

LAFM: What has been your best game this season?

I had 2 really good games. Against Plain Dealing, I had 3 passing TDs, 2 rushing TDs, and 200 yards passing. The other game was against Huntington. I passed for 5 TD’s and rushed for one as well.

LAFM: Who is your favorite football player of all time?

Drew Brees- He is not the tallest guy, yet he gets the ball out of his hands with amazing accuracy. He is someone, for me as a QB, to really look up too.

LAFM: How old were you when you started playing and where?

Fourth Grade was my first year playing. I played at the Boys and Girls Club in Wichita Falls. I moved to Benton half way into my Seventh Grade year.

LAFM: Do you have any family members or friends that have had a big influence on you as you play football?

None of my family played football, but my dad has always encouraged me to play. He has always taught me to be the best I could be. He is a big reason why I am the player I am today.

LAFM: If football does not work out for you, what do you see yourself doing? Have you thought of a major in college?

Well I have a bunch of schools looking at me for baseball. If both football or baseball do not work out, I plan on becoming an orthodontist or oral surgeon.

LAFM: What schools are showing interest in baseball? And do you have a preference between baseball and football?

Every school in the state has been talking to me for baseball as well as Rice and Baylor. I am a Pitcher/Shortstop. I do not have a preference. I will end up choosing between the two when I decide what situation works best for me.

LAFM: Are there any schools that are recruiting you football wise? Do you have any favorites?

Millsaps College in Mississippi, and Hendrix College in Arkansas are the two main ones that are recruiting me. I have talked to a few other coaches as well.

LAFM: What positions are you being recruited for? Have you always been a QB?

I am being recruited as QB/ATH type player.  My freshman year I was actually a WR for the varsity team. Once sophomore year started, we needed a QB, and I stepped in to fill the role.

LAFM: What was something special about your team this year?

Switching to a new offense in one year is a difficult year. Everyone on the team had to learn a new job. We came together and trusted each other to take on the task. As a result, we became more of a team both offensively and defensively.

LAFM: Outside of football, what makes your school special?

It is a small town where everybody knows everybody. At the school, we have no clicks and everybody is friends. We have a community that completely supports the school and its students.
