February 2, 2010 – Athlete Jarrett Fobbs, 5-11 185, from Huntington HS, is torn between LSU and Texas A&M going into tomorrow’s signing day. Texas A&M has one big advantage going into signing day and that is that Jarrett Fobbs‘ mom works with the dad of LB Jonathan Stewart who played at local Byrd HS. Jonathan Stewart currently starts for Texas A&M as a LB.
It looks as though Brandon Jackson DT from Evangel Christian ,6-4 275, will stick with his commitment to Texas A&M. LSU did not start recruiting Brandon until a few weeks ago, and over the summer Brandon only went to one camp and that was LSU. Former LSU coach DJ McCarthy did not offer Brandon while he was recruiting the Shreveport area.
Evangel Christian HS teammates ATH Virgil Williams ,5-8 170, who runs a 4.41 forty, and WR Eric Thomas ,6-2 195, who runs a 4.6 forty, will both sign with Southern University in Baton Rouge. I’m really shocked that Arkansas did not offer Eric Thomas on his visit recently This kid has great hands and deceptive speed. Virgil was a leader on the state Champion track team at Evangel Christian HS. Southern and new head coach Stump Mitchell are getting two big time, instant play makers. Eric will play right away, and make people forget about Jumorris Stewart who’s off to the NFL. WR Thomas Bridgewater Evangel Christian HS, 6-0 185, who made ALL State in track, and runs a true 4.4 forty, has decomitted from Henderson State and is headed to Grambling. Thomas will run track and play football. This is a big time steal.
Slidell HS Safety Michael Norman ,6-3 195, will enroll at Northwestern State and sit out as a non qualifier. Michael is a big time DB, if eligible; he would have many DIV 1 offers. I saw this kid play many times and he’s big time. Kicker, Punter, and WR, Chris Barnes ,6-2 190, from Slidell HS, will visit Louisiana College on Feb 12. Chris has a 4.0 GPA and has a ton of upside for playing three different positions. I predict Chris will go to Louisiana College, Belhaven has also offered. DT Alfred Halton Slidell HS, 5-11 270 ,will sign with Junior College, College
of the Redwoods in California. Under sized tough Noseguard, who might be a DIV 1 player in two years. RB Ryan Tott from Slidell HS, who graduated in 2008, has enrolled at Mississippi Gulf Coast and will play there in 2010. Ryan is 6-0 220 pounds and runs a 4.6 forty. He has tons of upside and originally signed with a California Junior College out of HS.
Joe Henderson ,6-3 310 OG, and Kale Buchholtz ,6-2 255 OG/OC, both from Denham Springs, will visit Louisiana College, and look for one or both of these kids to commit. These kids have SEC ability to play offensive line.
DE/TE Aaron Thibodeaux from St Fredericks in Monroe has been offered a scholarship by ULL, and has
committed to the Ragin Cajuns. Aaron also is an ALL State baseball player that can play DIV 1 baseball in college. Aaron is 6-3 230 pounds, and has a really good motor coming off the edge. Aaron will be in the 250 to 260 range when he’s done growing.
