Video Recruit Spotlight: DE James McFarland, West Monroe High School, Class of 2012

February 24, 2012 – I see a lot of DE Sam Montgomery from LSU when I see James McFarland of West Monroe High School play.  He’s a kid who’s not huge for DI standards in weight like Sam, but has a great frame at 6-3 in height and a chiseled 235 pounds.  He comes off the edge with a high motor at times, which is something you can’t coach.  You just know he’s going to be 245 to 250 over a summer after adding more muscle, and he can run like a Linebacker.  Texas Christian otherwise known as TCU is getting a big time player with NFL written all over him.  I know LSU has a lot of talent at Defensive End, but I don’t understand why they’re letting this one get away from them.  When this kid goes with a high motor coming off the edge, you can’t block him.
