Week 9 Players of the Week

Week 9 games were played October 30th-November 1st. This past weekend’s Players of the Week (week 10) will be announced on our show this upcoming week. At the bottom of this post, you can see the listings for when and where it will be announced. We will also put them on our site a week from today.

Our team at Louisiana Football Magazine will be selecting an Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week for each class (5A-1A) every week.  Once selected, they are announced on our TV Show live on Tuesday and then on our website the following Sunday. (Note: this post is for Week 8 while this past weekend was week 9). For the first announcement for our players of the week, tune into our show which goes live on Tuesday in Baton Rouge, Lafayette, and New Orleans on Cox Channel 4.  Listings for all other areas around the state can be seen at the bottom of this post.

1A-Offensive-Desmond McGovern QB, St. Martins: 21-35 287 yards passing, No INTS, 11 rushes for 94 yards, 3 total TDS in win over Haynes

1A-Defensive-Garryn Chowns DB, Ouachita Christian: 3 INTS (returned for 58 yards), fumble recovery, 2 tackles in a shutout against St. Frederick who had been averaging over 30 points a game.

 

2A-Offensive- Lowell Narcisse QB, St. James: ran for 132 yards rushing on 13 attempts (1000 yards rushing on the season), 4 TDS rushing, 11-21 for 132 yards passing in win over Carver

2A-Offensive-Zavier Davis LB, Ferriday: 16 tackles (2 for a loss), 2 sacks in close win over Jonesboro-Hodge

 

3A-Offensive-Charlie Smith RB, Jena High School: 29 carries for 390 yards rushing, 3 tds, set school rushing record,  first time beating Marksville since 1978

3A-Defensive-Nathaniel Evans LB, John Curtis Christian:  17 tackles, 3 for a loss, 1 sack, 1 hurry

 

4A-Offensive-Ethan Rose QB, Northside: 20 carries for 290 yards and 4TDs, passed for 103 yards and 1 td in lost to Cecilia

4A-Defensive-Justin Gaskin LB-North Desoto: 13 solos, 3 assist, 2 QB sacks, 3 Tackles for Loss in win over Loyola

 

5A-Offensive-Keondre Wudtee QB, Parkway: 18-21 passing 370 yards, 5 TDs, 18-21, 4 TDs in first half against unbeaten Haughton

5A-Defensive-Robert Lobrano LB, Jesuit: 25 tackles in a close 17-14 win over rival Brother Martin.

About Reid Althage

Reid is from Harvey, LA and went to Brother Martin High School. He played men's NAIA soccer at LSU Shreveport for his first 2 years college. His junior year, Reid transferred to Baton Rouge and graduated from LSU with a Sports Administration Degree. He started with LAFM as an Intern in April 2013 and was hired in October. Reid loves anything to do with sports (Saints, Pelicans, and Liverpool FC Fan), the outdoors, and family/friends.
