LAFM: Name, position, school?

My name is Santos Ramirez. I was a DB for Evangel Christian High School and am now committed to the Arkansas Razorbacks.

LAFM: Current height and weight?

6-2,  187 lbs

LAFM: 40-yard dash time? Max bench and max squat?

I run a 4.5 40-yard dash. My max bench was 290, and my max squat was 365.

LAFM: How did the season go for you and the team?

It was a great season even though we did not go to the State Championship. We played well, finished with an 10-2 record, and made it to the semi-finals. Individually, I made 1st Team All-State and finished with 88 tackles, and 10 pics.

LAFM: What has been your best game this past season?

My best game was against Booker T. Washington High School. I had 12 tackles, 1 INT, a punt block, and 2 receiving TDs.

LAFM: Who is your favorite football player of all time?

I would have to say Dion Sanders and Jerry Rice. In my opinion, Dion is the best DB in the history of the game, and he had that good swagger about himself. Jerry Rice is my favorite receiver. He has always been my idol and is an all-time great receiver.

LAFM: How old were you when you started playing and where?

I was 9 years old when I started to play little league. My first year I played for Express, and then after I played for the Blanchard Bull Dogs.

LAFM: Do you have any family members or friends that have had a big influence on you and your football career?

My uncle, Paul Pugh, has been a great influence in my life. I never really had a father in my life, but he has stepped in to fill that role for my brothers and I. He trained us and has always taken care of us since we were little.

LAFM: If football does not work out for you, what do you see yourself doing? Have you thought of a major in college? Why?

I am going to major in physical therapy in college. That way I can be a physical therapist or a trainer.

LAFM: What made you choose Arkansas?

When I went to visit, I really liked Brett Bielema and where he has the program headed now. It is a new generation of great players at Arkansas. I like that people are doubting us, and I feel like we can prove them wrong.  I felt comfortable with school, and really felt like I was part of a family their. Overall, I liked everything about team and school.

LAFM: What position(s) are you being recruited for? What is your favorite position?

The DB coach at Arkansas wants me as a CB although he may try me a little at safety. Some of the other schools who were recruiting me wanted me as a safety. Arkansas likes my size, length, speed, and quick hips. They see me as a potential lock down defender in the secondary

LAFM: What do you bring to as a player and a person to Arkansas?

I will never back down from a challenge even if its Megatron himself. My mindset is I am going to lock it down. I have great ball instincts and can overpower WRs with my strength and size. You wont beat me deep because I have speed. My mind set is never going to let me fail. Even if a WR makes a catch, I just shake it off and get ready for the next play.

LAFM: Looking back at this past year, what made this years team special?

Our team chemistry was special. In the beginning of the year everybody was against us even our own team. People thought we would lose many games. We all came together as a team, stepped up, and proved that when you put God first, anything is possible.
