We have finished our 23rd annual magazine cover shoot, but this year marked the third straight year in which we have conducted both a North and South photo shoot. This year, we shot the North photo shoot at Northwestern State University in Natchitoches and we shot the South photo shoot at Catholic High School in baton-rouge. Both events were really successful, and we would like to thank everybody who has helped us make both events so special for the players that were involved. Besides taking the photos, Louisiana Football Magazine’s owner Lee Brecheen and editor Jace LeJeune got the chance to talk to some of the top Class of 2020 players in the state of the Louisiana. Both Brecheen and LeJeune talked to the recruits about their top schools, goals for the upcoming season, hobbies, and so much more. For the next couple of weeks, we will post these video interviews that were taken at both photoshoot events!

In today’s recruit interview, we go to Northwestern State University where Lee Brecheen sat down with Ouachita Christian High School's two senior leaders OL/LB Grant Mashaw and ATH Will Fitzhugh!

Grant Mashaw & Will Fitzhugh: The Ouachita Christian Eagles have been a dominant program as long as anyone can remember, especially under the leadership of Head Coach Steven Fitzhugh. During his incredible career with the Eagles, he has led the program close to 200 wins and four state championships. Even with all of the success, the Eagles are trying to get back to the big Dance once again, but it would be for the first time since 2014. The Eagles have had their string of bad luck in the Division IV Quarterfinals losing in that game over the last three seasons including losing on the last play of the game against Southern Lab last season. Despite their bad luck during that time span, there is plenty of optimism for the Eagles this season with 18 returning starters on this year's football team, including two seniors that are featured in today's recruit interview. The first guy to be talked about is none other than Coach Fitzhugh's son Will Fitzhugh. After seeing his dad lead the program for so many years as well as seeing his older brother Grant Fitzhugh (Harding) become a star player in his own right, it is now the younger brother's opportunity to show what he can do and he has not yet to disappoint. At 5-11, 185 pounds with 4.6/40 speed along with a high football I.Q., Fitzhugh is the epitome of a coach's son and has played almost every position. Last season, he ran the ball 178 times for 1,291 yards and 18 touchdowns as a running back, had 26 catches for 527 yards and nine touchdowns as a receiver, accounted for 497 yards and a touchdown as a kick returner, averaged 21 yards per punt return, and accounted for 78 tackles, five interceptions, and a forced fumble on defense. This was all over a course of one season. Then, the second player in this interview for Ouachita Christian is a versatile All-State caliber player in his own right in Grant Mashaw. Mashaw may not be the biggest guy out there at 6-0, 210 pounds, but he is your typical Ouachita Christian Eagle meaning he is tough, hard nosed, smart, and knows how to finish plays whether it is on the offensive line or making tackles at linebacker. For this very reason, the leadership, toughness, and ability to play together as a team give the Eagles as good a shot as anybody not only in their district, but in competing for the District IV state championship. So far, so good for the Eagles as the team is currently 5-1 six weeks into the season with wins coming against Arcadia, Jena, Sicily Island, Delhi, and Cedar Creek. Their only loss came against Class 3A powerhouse Sterlington. This week will provide another critical opponent for the Eagles, and that is fellow Class 1A power Oak Grove this Friday.

In this recruit interview with Lee Brecheen, we caught up with the two Ouachita Christian seniors before the season to talk about playing for Coach Fitzhugh, their goals for the season, and how they are going to break through in order to get back to the state championship game!
