Saban Sightings

                        La'el Collins - Redemptorist

February 5, 2010 - Nick Saban was seen a week before signing day at Redemptorist to look at two juniors that are committed to LSU. They are RB Jeremy Hill and OT/DT La’el Collins. Collins just visited Alabama for Junior Day before signing day. Hill will be going to Alabama’s Junior Day this weekend.

I talked to South Plaquemines Head Coach Cyril Crutchfield who told me that Seth Ancar (LB/SS -6-0 200) signed with LA Tech Wednesday. He’s one of the most chiseled players in state and can run a 4.5/40. Coach had mentioned that Saban had been by the school prior to signing day to look at his top junior, ATH Bradley Sylve (5-11, 180, 4.41/40). He’s one of the top athletes in the state for the 2011 class. Coach told me that Sylve was offered this week by Ole Miss, Mississippi State, and probably soon, Alabama. He’s already been offered by LSU.

I know this isn’t about football but Louisiana’s top basketball prospect for the 2010 class is the 6’3” guard from Christian Life, Langston Galloway, who has signed with St. Joseph’s in Philadelphia, PA. I had a chance to talk to Langston in person and he had mentioned that LSU was a serious contender for his signature early on. If this kid could play football he would’ve been a phenomenal WR. He’s a great kid with a great personality and he’s very mature.

One of the best commitments to go out of state at any level is a kid named Jordan Arthur, a 6-4, 260 pound DE/OG who can run a 4.9/40. He signed with Jackson State, which is in Jackson, MS. They are a 1AA school who plays Southern University every year in the SWAC Conference. Arthur was heavily coveted by several colleges throughout the state and I think he’s a bona fide D1 player who could make it to the pros. He’s from Carroll High School in Monroe. His teammate, DT Kadeem Taylor (6-4, 270) is another stud that is heading to Jackson State. Both of these kids have a phenomenal upside because they have no fat on their frame and they could weight 280- 290 pounds. They are two big pickups for Jackson state.
