Week 5 Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week!

Our team at Louisiana Football Magazine will be selecting an Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week for each class (5A-1A) every week.  Once selected, they are announced on our TV Show live on Tuesday and then on our website the following Sunday. (Note: this post is for Week 5 while this past weekend was week 6). For the first announcement for our players of the week, tune into our show which goes live on Tuesday in Baton Rouge, Lafayette, and New Orleans on Cox Channel 4.  Listings for all other areas around the state can be seen at the bottom of this post.

Week 5 Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week

1A-Offense-Christian Colvin RB, Delhi Charter: 41 carries for 261 yards rushing yards, 4 rushing TDs, three 2 point conversions in 30-20 win over Jena High School

1A-Defense-Malcolm Roach DE, Madison Preparatory Academy: 8 tackles, 2 sacks, 1 fumble return for a 70 yard TD in win over Tara High

 

2A-Offense-Shea Patterson QB, Cavalry Baptist High School: 14-23 pass attempts, 257 passing yards, 3 passing TDs, in win over West Monroe at West Monroe

2A-Defense-Shannon Morales MLB, Ferriday High School: 18 tackles (8 solos,10 assists) 5 for a loss, 1 sack in a win over West St. Mary

 

3A-Offense-Nick Lavalais RB, Marksville High School: 247 yards on 40 carries and 2 TDs, Filled in for an injured starter in a 28 to 21 win over St. Louis

3A-Defense-Michael Tarwater DE/DT, Parkview Baptist High School: 14 tackles, 4 of those for a loss, 3 sacks

 

4A-Offense-Brandon Hillman RB, Franklin Parish High School: ran for 205 yards against Haynesville,  (opposing offenses were only giving up 10 yards on average per game before this game) Snapped Haynesville 19 game win streak

4A-Defense-Aaron Roberson CB/QB, Huntington High School: Game winning interception returned for a TD in 20-17 win over Loyola, also had 81 yards passing, 46 yards rushing

 

5A-Offense-Lindsey Scott Jr. QB, Zachary High School: 16-28, 227 passing yards 1 TD passing, 108 yards rushing and 4 rushing TDs in win over Live Oak

5A-Defense-Shelby Lavergne SS, St. Augustine High School: 12 tackles, 2 pass break ups, 1 fumble recovery in 15-13 win over John Curtis

About Reid Althage

Reid is from Harvey, LA and went to Brother Martin High School. He played men's NAIA soccer at LSU Shreveport for his first 2 years college. His junior year, Reid transferred to Baton Rouge and graduated from LSU with a Sports Administration Degree. He started with LAFM as an Intern in April 2013 and was hired in October. Reid loves anything to do with sports (Saints, Pelicans, and Liverpool FC Fan), the outdoors, and family/friends.
