As the month of June approaches, so does football season. As it is every other day here at Louisiana Football Magazine, it has been pretty busy especially over the last two months when we have conducted our Louisiana Football Magazine photo shoots over that time period. We have finished our 23rd annual magazine cover shoot, but this year will mark the third straight year in which we have conducted both a North and South photo shoot. This year, we shot the North photo shoot at Northwestern State University in Natchitoches and we shot the South photo shoot at Catholic High School in Baton Rouge. Both events were really successful, and we would like to thank everybody who has helped us make both events so special for the players that were involved. Besides taking the photos, Louisiana Football Magazine’s owner Lee Brecheen and editor Jace LeJeune got the chance to talk to some of the top Class of 2020 players in the state of the Louisiana. Both Brecheen and LeJeune talked to the recruits about their top schools, goals for the upcoming season, hobbies, and so much more. For the next couple of weeks, we will post these video interviews that were taken at both photoshoot events!

In today’s recruit interview, we go to Northwestern State University where Lee Brecheen sat down with two of Captain Shreve High School’s top recruits!

Geron Hargon & Mark Mitchell: The Captain Shreve Gators had one of their best seasons in recent memory finishing 8-4 on the year. Not only did the Gators host a playoff game, but they were able to win a playoff game defeating St. Amant 28-21. Even though the Gators lost in the next round against West Monroe, 2018 proved to be they year that the Gators were back on the map. Two of the team’s best players and leaders from that breakout team return in senior LB Geron Hargon and senior center Mark Mitchell. At 6-3, 230 pounds, Hargon is one of the best linebackers in the state. Last season, Hargon posted 90 tackles, 15 tackles for loss, three forced fumbles, five fumble recoveries, three pass breakups, and six in a half sacks. Now, this upcoming season, Hargon wants to not only get 100 tackles this year, but also lead the team deep in the playoffs. Right now, Hargon has received a bunch of offers from colleges including a bunch of Ivy League schools because of his incredible athletic ability along with his work in the classroom. He has narrowed down his top schools to 12, which include Penn, Rice, Harvard, Southern Miss, Navy, Yale, Tulsa, Cornell, Dartmouth, ULM, Northwestern State, and UAB. His teammate Mark Mitchell is a pretty good player in his own right. He may not be getting the national attention like Hargon, but he is capable of playing at the college level. At 6-3, 265 pounds, Mitchell is pretty athletic for a big guy and is actually one of the best baseball players as a pitcher on the Captain Shreve baseball team.

In today’s recruit interview, Brecheen talks to both Captain Shreve seniors as they talk about the upcoming season, their personal goals, their skills, and so much more! Check out the interview below!
