Glen Oaks High School DE Harry Carter's Speed Off The Edge Makes Him A Pass Rushing Sleeper

Glen Oaks High School senior defensive end Harry Carter has two goals for his 2021 season: to be named All-District and to lead the state of Louisiana in sacks.

When talking about how he feels about his Glen Oaks Panthers this season, Carter declared, “I’m feeling good! I really feel like we’re building something special. I feel like we can be 8-1 at least. We’ve got a great bond so we’re ready for everything.”

The Panthers’ schedule sees several important games as the group look to return for the playoffs, but perhaps none more important than their October 28th matchup with defending 3A State Champions Madison Prep. Harry had this to say about the late-season clash with the Chargers, “I’m excited for it! They’re a great team and always give teams a challenge and I enjoy that challenge.”

The 6’3 speed rusher compares his game to former LSU Tiger and current Minnesota Viking Danielle Hunter, saying, “My biggest strength on the field is my speed, I can beat the offensive lineman off the line. I also have the wingspan to bat down passes like slant routes and slip screens.” Speed kills in football, and Carter uses his speed effectively to blow by Offensive Tackles and cause chaos for Quarterbacks and Running Backs in the backfield.

Carter looks to improve his game in several ways both mentally and physically. “I want to improve my strength, and be able to get off of my blocks faster. I also want to work on how I read offenses as well as taking better angles to the ball to make tackles.”

As he reaches the next level, Carter has several schools on his list of potential landing spots. LSU, Texas Tech, and Florida State University are at the top of Harry’s list currently, as he plans to major in engineering and also continue his football career. No matter where Harry lands however, his speed off the edge makes him a terror for offensive tackles and quarterbacks at all levels.
