Jadais Richard and West Monroe Ready To Head Back To State Championship
by Jay Parker
West Monroe senior safety Jadais Richard is prepared to have a big season after missing four games of his junior year due to quarantining for the COVID-19 pandemic. He is taking full advantage of this off season running at 4.45/40 second yard dash at the Texas Christian University camp and jumping a 34-inch vertical.
Richard is not just successful on the gridiron but also on the basketball court and track as well. He was first team all-district in basketball and second team all-state. He runs the 100-meter dash and the 4 by 100 meter-relay in track.
Richard is extremely positive for the Rebels 2021 football season. Returning with him in the secondary is Louisiana Tech commit Rayshawn Pleasant along with starting cornerbacks Javari Sanders and Paul Manning. This summer Richard has focuses on his personal game of getting hands on the receiver quicker and bettering himself at the press. He excels in open field coverage and compares his style of play to strong safety Derwin James of the Los Angeles Chargers. He’ll be attending summer camps at the University of Houston and Oklahoma State University.
Richard has offers from eight Division I football teams and has narrowed his top three down to Baylor University, Texas Christian University, and Louisiana Tech University. He plans to commit before the season begins in the beginning of August. When asked about what would help him make that decision, Richard said that he is looking for a university that would make him feel loved and possess a home atmosphere.
Next fall, Richard will be making the shift from corner to play more as a free safety. With this new roll, he expects to have at least five interceptions next fall as West Monroe looks to make a run back to the state title.
