Head Coach: Bryant Bell (3rd year)

2022 record: 0-10

Class & District: Class 5A (District 2)

Pineville QB Jaylan Witty

Pineville head coach Bryant Bell played high school football at West Monroe for the legend Don Shows. He was also a powerlifter at West Monroe for his dad, Billy Bell. Bell graduated from West Monroe in 2003 and went on to graduate at ULM. Pineville has a tough non-district schedule with games against Barbe, Tioga, Winnfield, Menard & Jonesboro Hodge. Combining their non-district schedule with their district schedule, the Rebels have one of the toughest schedules in the state. Pineville is in District 2, which has Alexandria, Ouachita, Ruston, West Monroe and West Ouachita. All five of those teams made the playoffs in 2022 and Alexandria, Ruston and West Monroe have made an appearance in the state championship game in the last five years with Ruston going as recently as last year.

“We are going to be much improved in 2023,” said Bell. “We started 17 So’s last season in a really tough District with West Monroe, Alexandria, Ouachita, Ruston HS and West Ouachita. West Monroe will be coming to our place Pineville for a game for the first time in 10 years. We also brought in former Menard HS head coach Justin Charles to be our defensive coordinator which I am excited about. We will run the Flex-Bone Offense in 2023. We do have a small senior group coming up.”

Pineville FB/DE Sebastion Mollette

The offense will have a returning starter in QB Jaylan Witty back. At 6-3, 215 pounds, Witty is a good drop-back QB with a great arm. The skill talent around Witty will be young but is led by an experienced player in second-year starter ATH Jaylen Fortson (5-7, 165) who is quick in space with burst. There’s also RB Erick Frazier (6-2, 210) who has great size and can run a 4.6 forty. The Rebels also have a big tough FB/RB in senior Sebastian Mollette (6-2 220).

The offensive line will average over 280 pounds starting with new starting OG in senior Jimerion Jackson (6-6, 400), OG Elias Sellers (6-3, 300), another new starter in OG/OT Aden Gaines (6-5, 375) and OT/OG Keenan Taylor (6-3, 285).

A lot of spots are open on defense in the fall and the coach is excited to see who steps up in 2023. The defense will be very young but return some leadership in a three-year starter in DT/NG Trishtian Wallace (6-0, 260), SS Ty Sanders (6-0, 170), FS Jacob Miranda (6-0, 170), LB Zane Seitz (6-2, 220), CB Briant Dearborne (6-0, 200), and Sebastian Mollette, doubles as a defensive end.

Pineville’s special teams unit will be led by second-year starting kicker Jaco Li, who has a good leg. The spot for the punter is still wide open going into the fall. Jaylen Fortson will be the main return man for the team.
