Recruit Spotlight: 3 Sleepers from DeQuincy High School, Class of 2025
Today, we will discuss three sleeper prospects from DeQuincy High School football’s Class of 2025—two talented kickers/punters, Nolan Schrader and Kohen Cormier, and a gifted athlete, TE/LB/DE McKinley Clark Jr.
All three of these players have the potential to compete at the college level if given the opportunity.
- Nolan Schrader has an impressive leg as a punter (a college-caliber leg) and is also a strong kicker for kickoffs
- Kohen Cormier, the team’s starting kicker, has great size (6'2", 200 lbs) and a powerful leg, excelling as both a kicker and punter.
- McKinley Clark Jr. (6'3", 195 lbs) is an athletic TE/LB/DE who runs a legit 4.6 forty. With a year in a college weight room, he could quickly reach 6'3", 225 lbs while maintaining his speed, making him a valuable prospect at LB or OLB/DE.
Player Quotes & Interest
OLB/DE/Athlete McKinley Clark Jr.:
"I've had conversations with McNeese State, Sam Houston, Northwestern State, and Louisiana Christian in Pineville. In the end, I'm hoping to play for a mid-major school," said McKinley (MJ) Clark Jr.
Kicker Nolan Schrader (5'9", 180 lbs):
"I recently emailed Louisiana Tech some of my tape, including kicks from this past weekend’s practice. My dad played high school football and baseball at Warren Central in Mississippi and went on to play college baseball at Hinds Junior College. In 2024, I had close to 50% of my kickoffs land in the end zone," said Nolan Schrader.
Kicker/Punter Kohen Cormier (6'1", 195 lbs):
"It was great playing for Coach Woodard at DeQuincy. He brought a different energy to practices, making them more intense and improving the overall atmosphere. He also brought our team closer together—it felt like a second family," said Kohen Cormier.
"I'm currently interested in McNeese State and Louisiana Christian. In 2024, my field goal percentage was 91%, and my longest punt was 58 yards."
