Vinton High School is located about 20 minutes from the border town of Orange, Texas. The program had 18 kids on the team in 2022.
“I think Vinton is a football community. and we need to get back to having a football culture,” first-year Vinton head coach Tyler Lavergne. “The hurricanes and Covid hurt this school and town and we just need to get it back to where it was before. We have some good players and the numbers are going up with 34 players expected for fall camp.”

The offense at Vinton will run a Pro-I and its base defense will be a 4-2-5. The top athlete in the program coming back is four-year starter WR/DB Freddie Budwine (6-2, 180, 4.5 speed). Budwine had moved to Arizona for a while with family and is now back for his senior year. Budwine will play everywhere in 2023 for the program. The Lions have another big-time four-year starter in OT/OG Jeremiah Holts (6-6, 260) who is a team leader back and is a sleeper prospect in this state and I think he can play at the D1 level. Other players the program will lean on for leadership will be senior LB/C Jordan Rogers (5-10, 175), RB/DB Jaden Briggs, new starter OG/OC/DT Gabe Riggins (5-10, 210), OT/DT Ricky Favors (6-0, 225), three-year starter WR/DB Landon Harbort three-year starter and FB/LB Jaheim Levias (6-2, 185) who is a new starter and has 4.5 speed.
