2023 Louisiana Football Preview: Tara High School (Baton Rouge)

Class & District: Class 4A (District 6)
This season, the Tara Trojans are 1-3 so far on the season and have already improved from the season before.
The Trojans have a new starting quarterback in Adrian Coleman (5-9, 170) who lettered in 2022. The rest of the skill talent will start on both sides of the football starting with WR Lenny Williams (5-7, 160, 4.5 speed), FS/WR Xzavier Ware (6-0, 190, Sr.) who has 4.6 speed and a sleeper player, RB Jordan Bowie (5-7, 190, Sr.) who had close to 1,000 yards in 2022, second-year starter RB/MLB Eldon Spears (5-7, 210), WR/DE Donovan Dalton (6-2, 195, Sr.) with 4.7 speed off the edge and RB Demarion Bell (5-8, 185) who is fully committed to getting better every day.
Key linemen and linebackers back in the program are OT LaMonte McKeever (6-4, 340) who has some talent, DE Keavon Scott (6-2, 210, Sr.), a new starter who has the tools, C/DT Lenmorrow Lawrence (5-7, 230), OL/DL Glenn Wisham (5-11, 230), OL Cameron Wilkins (5-11, 230), OL Zaivyon “Bear” Smith (6-3, 320), who is a transfer from Catholic High School (Baton Rouge) and other young players who will need to step up for depth in 2023.
The first and only state title for Tara High School occurred in 1974. It was also the last time an East baton-rouge public school won a state title. The last time the Trojans had a winning season was 2009 which was also the last time the program went to the playoffs.
