Washington-Marion head coach Jules Sullen is a dedicated, hard-working coach. Wherever he has coached, his teams find a way to win and build. Jules did a great job for years at LaGrange High School in Lake Charles. Washington-Marion High School just started an off season program in 2022 and in 2023 is just the second year of lifting weights as a team with off-season conditioning. Coach Sullen graduated from LaGrange High School (Class of 1988) and went to Morehouse in Atlanta, Georgia. Morehouse is the alma mater of Samuel L. Jackson, Spike Lee and Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
Washington-Marion RB Markell Senagal
“We lost a large senior class from the 2022 season and a few three and four-year starters have graduated,” Coach Sullen said. “The kids are better ready for football. We don’t have a Pop Warner or Youth League that connects to us prior to high school here. It also doesn’t help that Covid and the storms had a huge effect on our school the past three years. We have to teach the kids football when they arrive to high school and they are working hard to win games this season.”
The program will have two capable quarterbacks to turn to at any moment in Grayson Boulard (5-9, 170) who is a three-sport athlete with 4.5 speed and Monte Farmer (6-5, 180) who is a new player with tons of potential. I think these two kids can complement each other the whole year.
Washington-Marion WR/FS John Chavis
The run game has talented second-year starter Joshua Smith (5-8, 165, 4.45 speed) and is a good pass-catcher out of the backfield. You also have RB Ashlone Thomas (5-8, 175) with some speed and RB Markell Senagal (6-3, 190, 4.59 speed) who is a third-year starter with power and all the tools to play ball.
The wide receiver position has some talent and depth. It starts with WR/FS John Chavis (5-11, 170), TE Ashton Savoy (6-1, 180), WR/CB Daylon Williams (5-11, 160), WR Ethan Johnson (6-2, 170) and WR /FS Landon Braxton (5-10, 165, Sr.). The offensive line has size and potential to be a good group in the end led by Andonis Cannon (260 pounds), OL Quinton Miller (240 pounds), OL Aden George (5-11, 245), OL Isaiah Adams (5-9, 240 pounds) and OL/DL Prince White (5-11, 240).
The Defense will build around DT Mark Robinson (5-10, 240), DE Devante Galmore (5-10, 225), LB Orlando Griffin (5-9, 200, Sr.), LB Andre Shallow (5-9, 180), CB Craig Tillmon (5-9, 160), Landon Braxton, John Chavis, Daylon Williams and Grayson Boulard.
