Ascension Christian School hired former LSU QB and 2002 Sugar Bowl MVP Rohan Davey to be its head coach during the offseason. Davey led the Tigers to an SEC title, which was its first in 13 years up to that point, and a trip to the Sugar Bowl where Davey earned the 2022 MVP for his performance in LSU’s 47-34 victory over the Illinois Fighting Illini. Davey also played several years for the New England Patriots in the NFL as a QB. This is Davey's first High School head coaching job as a coach.

“The biggest thing will be keeping these guys healthy with 23 to 24 players out in the fall,” Davey said. “We will start 85% of our players on both sides of the football in 2023.We have smart kids, who work hard, and they compete every day in practice. We are teaching them our expectations every day to play hard and compete.”

The offense will have QB Christian Noel, more of a running QB but at (6-0, 210) has some power to get on the ground is not easy for opposing teams. The run game will have Rhett Roussel (5-9, 180) who is a young freshman with 4.59 speed and some power. There’s also RB/LB Brayden Duke (6-0, 215) with huge legs, or like Rohan says, “Bo Jackson Legs”. Duke will start both sides of the ball and is one of the more talented younger players in the program. The passing game will rely on WR/DB Jayce Harelson who has 4.6 legit speed and WR Kason Tanner (5-7, 145) who has playmaking ability and runs good routes.

The Defense also has DE Elijah Poche (6-2, 240), SS/FS Luke Denton (6-0, 170), and CB Ayden Johnston (5-8, 150) who is a smart kid with good speed (4.65 forty).
