2023 Louisiana Prep Football Preview: Bossier High School
Bossier Bearcats
Head Coach: Gary Smith (1st year)
2022 Record: 0-10
Class & District: Class 4A (District 1)
"We have upgraded our weight room and field house which is big for us, Bossier head coach Gary Smith said. "We will run a 3-4 defense. We want kids to come to Bossier High School and do all we can to upgrade the facilities and put these kids in a position to win games."
The team and offense have a leader at QB in Quintarion Scott (6-2, 205). Coach Smith loves his leadership for the team. Scott has a chance to be a good player and he has the size to do so. TE/FB Trey Christor (5-11, 198) also might get some snaps at QB and when he's not playing at his normal position. The run game has two really good backs returning in RB/CB Jamar Samuel (5-11, 170, 4.59 speed) who is a transfer from Huntington High School and will help the team a lot, and RB Lebrandon Davis (5-7, 170, 4.6 speed) who had a strong summer for the program. Davis is a strong player for his size. At the wide receiver position, you have WR/DB Randy Robinson (5-10, 160, 4.45 speed), WR/S Keyshawn Johnson (6-2, 185, Sr.) who is a really good athlete and WR Kyran Colvin (6-2, 165) who has really good hands and sat out the 2022 season so 2023 he can help the program out a lot with his route running too. The lineman in this program will start both sides of the ball. The offensive line has OL/DL Keith Hall (5-10, 255, Sr.), OL Jhakarea Marshall (5-10, 250, Sr.) and OL Ty’Keithan Johnson (6-1, 195, Sr.).
On the defense you have OLB Denzel Kirtendoll (6-1, 180) who is a great athlete with 4.65 speed, LB Derrick Haynes (6-0, 205, Sr.) who is a tough player with 4.65 speed, DT/TE Charles Prim (6-0, 240, Sr.). The defense also includes two-way starters Keith Hall (5-10, 255), safety Keyshawn Johnson, DB Randy Robinson, CB Jamar Samuel and others who will add depth to this unit in 2023.
Head Coach Gary Smith graduated from Bossier High School (Class of 1990). Coach Smith did a great job as the defensive coordinator for Airline High School from 1995 to 2004 and McKinney High School (Texas) in 2006. He was most recently the defensive coordinator for Haughton High School for 7 years. He was also the strength coach for Haughton High School. The offensive coordinator is CJ Morgan, who was a great defensive back at Parkway High School and former Mississippi State.
