“We are looking to build with a young team after only losing 5 seniors," Broadmoor head coach Yasin Sarah said. "We snapped a 26-game losing streak last season, but we’re hungry for more in 2023."

All hands are on deck for players to start both sides of the football and it’s been that way for over 25 years with the Buccaneer program at Broadmoor High School. The offense will be led by QB/ATH Kenneth Hawkins, who is a new starter with 4.5 speed and a lot of upside for the future of this program. The run game will have a talented kid by the name of Kymani Jones-Jackson (5-11, 170, 4.6 speed) who has a ton of ability and will also play wide receiver, cornerback and strong safety for the team. The run game will consist of a few young new players to help out yet to be determined for fall. The passing game has two-way starters back in 4.55 speedster Woodlawn transfer WR/DB Jaden Banguel, WR/DB Derrick Goldman (6-0, 160, 4.6 speed) and WR/DB Marquis Bennett (6-0, 165) who is a smart kid with a lot of ability too.

The offensive and defensive line are the same players but there are a talented group as a whole. It is led by senior OL/DL Isiah Green (6-2, 240), senior OL/DL Anthony Allen (6-1, 265), OL/DL Demarius Toston (6-0, 250), OL/DL Willie Williams (5-11, 280), OC/DT Earl Thibodeaux (6-2, 270) and OL/DL D’ Ryan Dupree (6-5, 310).

The Defense will have starters from the Offense, but they will be led by three-year starter senior LB Mark Terrio (5-10, 210) who has a ton of experience in the program to lead the younger players in 2023.

After talking to Coach Sarah, he has an interesting story about Louisiana. He graduated from Union High School in South Carolina (Class of 2004) where he was a member of its football program when it won state titles in 2000 and 2002. He went to at LSU. I was impressed by the coach’s energy and if the kids buy in, I think he can give this program some stability long term. There’s a lot of history with Broadmoor’s athletic program with former players like LB Billy Cannon Jr. (Texas A&M) who was a first-round pick for the Dallas Cowboys, QB Bucky Richardson (Texas A&M), LB Allen Stansberry (LSU), Ryan Theriot (LSU Baseball), legendary high school QB Keith Foster and many others over the years.
