2023 Louisiana Prep Football Preview: Buckeye High School

Class & District: Class 3A (District 2)

The Panthers have started the 2023 season 2-1 and they will have a big home game against the 3-0 Vidalia High School on Friday. The program will lean on several two-way starters to keep the program moving forward like three-year starter OT/DT Gage Vercher (6-3, 285) who is a leader and tough-nose kid. There’s also second-year starter RB/WR Haidyn Boone who is a two-sport player at Buckeye High School, new starting QB Adam Brodnax who is a three-sport star at the school as well, LB/FB Jacob Young (5-10, 210, Sr.) who is another leader for this program, new starter RB/LB Jim Burlew, OC/DT Ian Ricketts (5-9, 220) who is a smart, tough kid with high football IQ, OT/DT Sean Beck (5-10, 215, Sr.) who is the strongest kid on team, second-year starter OG/NG Jathen Lachney (6-0, 305, Sr.), WR/DB Bryce Warthen who is a playmaker with 4.6 speed and second-year starter FB/TE/OLB Kolt Vercher who has 4.6 speed and is the backup quarterback.

Buckeye High School head coach Ben Laughlin is a graduate of Louisiana (Now Louisiana Christian) and also coached there for four years.
