I believe this team, if healthy enough, could compete for a state title in the end. They have the coaching staff, players, and experience on the roster to do it. I like their chances in Division I (Select) playoffs, which include state powers like Edna Karr, John Curtis Christian and Catholic (Baton Rouge).
I am excited for our team in 2023,” Captain Shreve head coach Adam Kirby told me. “It should be a fun year for the program and I am excited to get started.”
The offense has two talented players coming back at QB in Brodie Savage (6-2, 185) and Quortni Beaner (6-1, 190, Sr.) who both can win games for this team. I don’t look for the 2nd guy to sit much because these two kids can play and help the team win in the end. Both Savage and Beaner can run when needed to move the chains and Savage has a cannon arm.
The offensive line is one of the best in Louisiana and that will help big-time in Class 5A come playoff time. They are led on the OL by talented Devin Harper (6-5, 304) who is one of the top prospects in the class of 2025 nationally. Harper is quick and nimble and enjoys making pancake blocks. You also have LJ Prudhomme 6-3 290, newcomer OG Javion Marshall (6-1, 290), center Caleb Randolph 5-11 255 and OL Jeremy Duncan (6-7, 285).
The Gators also have some talented tight ends in Walker Bolton (6-4, 240), Kaleb Netoyer (6-0, 225) who is a tough leader and TE Chris Payton (6-3, 235) can move well and is a good blocker.

The Gators also have some talented skill players as well. The run game will be led by two talented backs: Jamarion Otis (5-9, 180, 4..5 speed) and two-way starter Jamarcea Plater (4.45 speed). The wide receiver group has a chance to be the best in school history in terms of depth and all of these kids can run a 4.55 or lower in the forty. This talented group is led by Keaton Flowers (6-0, 180, 4.5 speed), WR Jordan Wiggins (5-11, 180), WR JT Hester, WR Kiaron Brossett (5-10, 165) and Gage Haley (5-10, 160).
The defense will put a really good front seven on the field again in 2023 after losing some big-time players from the 2022 season. The Defensive front is led by senior All-State LB Landen Lee (5-11, 200) who led the team in tackles in 2022. The front seven also has DE Landon Mosley 5-10 230, DE Greg Webb (6-1, 225), NG/DT Timahj Jones (6-6, 365) who is a huge kid that almost no one can move in the middle, LB Lionel Scott (5-9, 215), DT Desmon White (5-10, 240) and LB Kyron Wilson (5-7, 185).
The defensive backfield returns a third-year starter one of the best defensive backs in Louisiana Tre Fuller (6-2, 185, 4.45 speed) who is a big-time player at safety. The defensive backfield also has CB Robert Harris (6-0, 160, 4.5 speed), CB/S EJ McDonald (6-2, 175). There will also be a few younger players mixed in for the 2023 season as well.
The special teams return one of the best kicking specialists in Louisiana John Chance (6-1, 200) who averaged 44 yards a punt in 2022 and has a leg to kick over 50 yards at any time during a game.
