Carver QB Jaden Varrett
I don’t think anyone does a better job replacing experience for the next season than Carver head coach Byron Addison. He and his staff do a great job playing young players on the fly and developing them along the way without missing a beat every year. They have to replace 14 three-year starters and he has done this before.
“We lost 14 starters from the 2022 season, so we have a lot of experience to replace over the last two years or so,” said Coach Addison. “We did have a great summer with our players growing up a lot. We will have great QB competition in the fall with two players competing.”
Carver Center Earl Catchings
The offense for Carver will have a new QB for the first time in two years. The good news is they have two pretty good QBs battling currently heading into the fall: Jaden Varrett and Damien Harris. Varrett has experience as he started mid-season last year. Harris is young but talented and can both run and throw it downfield.
The program lost a lot at WR from the 2022 graduation but they do return some talented players in senior WR Tory Pickney (5-10, 170) with 4.4 speed and looks to make a name for himself in his final season with the Rams. There are also WRs Isaiah Cain and Christopher Harris (5-11, 170) who are both talented young players. There’s also a new RB starter in talented Eskinde Pierre, who can run a 4.45 forty and did a letter in 2022 as he got some carries. Pierre is capable of being a 1,000-yard rusher in 2022 because he has power with speed which makes him tough to tackle. Although the offensive line will be young this year, they return two seniors in center Earl Catchings (6-0, 235), who is a three-year starter and a team leader, and OL Jamahj West (5-10, 245).
Carver TE/DE Jermaine Saulter
The defense will have some important pieces back in seniors DE/TE Jermaine Salter (6-2, 210), who is a late bloomer but has tons of talent with a 4.6 forty, DT Terrol Reimoneng (5-11, 230) and CB/WR Joshua Amacker (5-10, 175), who is a team leader with 4.5 speed. They also have two new starters at LB in Devante Warren (5-10, 205) and Robert Carter, who has 4.6 speed. They also have CB/SS Devin Duplessis, who has 4.45 speed as well as a few new players competing to start in 2023.
The special teams will be led by K/P Devin Duplessis, who also is a star DB for the team. Talented WR Christopher Harris can also help with the kicking game as he doubles as a kicker.
