First-year Cedar Creek head coach William Parkerson went to at Louisiana Tech, which isn't far from Cedar Creek High School. Coach Parkerson’s dad, Bill Parkerson, was a long-time high school coach at West Feliciana High School near baton-rouge, where he won a state title for them. This is a program Cedar Creek that has overcome low numbers of players to still win games and get in the playoffs like they did in 2022. Currently while writing this article, Cedar Creek had under 30 players total in the program. Not many programs in Louisiana can maintain winning like the Cougars have with low numbers and that’s a credit to the coaches and parents who support this program currently overcoming all odds to be successful.
“The numbers were down in the summer total players but we are working to get numbers up for the fall season,” Parkerson said. We will run a flexbone offense very similar to what Parkview Baptist High School (Baton Rouge) has done in the past. I know the kids since I was the team’s defensive coordinator in 2022 for the football team and the Head Track Coach.

The Offense will turn to four-year starter Ladd Thompson (6-1, 185, 4.55 speed), who has played many positions over his career, such as WR & DB, to help this program win games. Thompson will be the quarterback this year and has a nice arm considering he’s been an athlete for the program most of his career. The run game will turn to veterans and leaders Lawson Lillo (5-9, 175) who is a four-year starter that will start both sides of the football at running back, fullback and linebacker and had a pick-six in 2022 as well. There’s also FB/LB Gray Worthey (5-9, 170, 4.6 speed), who is another four-year starter. The offense has three more RBs who can help in the run game all two-way players in RB/DE/TE Alex Simpson (6-1, 220), senior RB/S Noah Durrett 5-10 165) and RB/CB James Myers (5-9, 155) who is another talented young player. The wide receiver spot has senior Blake Wade (5-8, 155) who is quick in space and WR Kade Luker (5-11, 155) new starter. The offensive & defensive lines have some talent but just lack depth overall. The top linemen on the team all two-way starters are senior OL/DL Landon Amidon (6-0, 235), senior OL/DL Brett Thompson (5-10, 225), TE/DE Blake Robinson (6-2, 225) and senior OL/DL Connor Roland (6-3, 245).
When I interviewed Coach Parkerson, the spots on special teams were up for grabs.
