Head Coach Jesse Turner did a great job as head coach of Ellender High School in Houma and will do great things at Covenant Christian High School. Coach Turner spent a total of 10 years coaching as both the offensive coordinator and as the head coach at Ellender. Turner played at Ellender High School (Class of 2008) and Nicholls where he started three years as a running back in ."

"Most of our players will play both sides of the football for the program," Coach Turner said. "I think we are loaded at the skill spots.We need some lineman to step up in 2023 for the program."

Although the Lions started off the season 2-0, they have lost two straight games against Morgan City 28-15 and suffered a nailibiting 34-33 loss to Central Catholic Friday night. Despite this, I think this is a big-time sleeper team for the playoffs.

There are a few playmakers for the program to choose from in QB/LB Kyler Robichaux (6-0, 175, Sr.), WR/QB/RB Carsen Hebert (5-10, 185, Sr., 4.45 legit speed), QB Tristan Rogers (5-10, 155) with big-time arm, RB/LB Landon Winslow (5-10, 185, 4.55 speed) already two touchdowns in 2023, RB/WR Jaden Carter (5-10, 165, 4.5 speed), WR/FS Jahari Carter (5-10, 170, 4.45 speed), WR Bailey Streams (6-1, 185) great hands and routes, team leader ATH Owen Trosclair (5-9, 170, 4.6 speed), LB/RB Lucas Lally (5-8, 155) who also linebacker for team and team captain WR/LB Peyton Trosclair (5-10, 175) who is a tough, all-out player. The program also has some key linemen to mention in All-District C/DT Cameron Eschete (6-0, 280), OT/TE/DE Brennan Champagne (5-11, 200), OL/DE Kabrem Thomas (6-1, 215), LB Connor Lally and big-time young defensive end Jayden Burrell.
