2023 Louisiana Prep Football Preview: DeQuincy High School

Class & District: Class 2A (District 5)

“We have about 297 kids at DeQuincy,” new head coach Tate Woodward said. “Everybody almost going both sides of the ball as starters. We lost the entire offensive line from last year.”

The key skill players that need huge years for the program like the coach said both sides of the football are Quentin Pharris (5-9, 185, Sr.), new starting QB Carson Rainwater (5-11, 185 who was a strong safety in 2022, CB Kheidren LeDay (5-8, 155, Sr.), FB/LB Shiloh Cotlong (5-10, 225, 4.7 speed), RB/LB Wyatt LaVergne (5-9, 165, 4.6 speed), RB/DE Nigile Ceasar and FS Trey Joyce (6-0, 170, 4.55 speed, Sr.). Key linemen in the program to build around are All-District DE/HB DeCouris Griffin (5-10, 225), OG/DE Hayes Text (6-3, 210) and OL Grayson Henderson (6-1, 250) who might play some defensive line too.

RB/LB Wyatt LaVergne is a State Champion as a Rider in the Rodeo Saddle Bronco events. Coach Woodard is a graduate of DeQuincy High School and a former football player. Starting current lineman OL/DE Hayes Text’s brother, Cooper, is an All-Conference Baseball Outfielder for McNeese State
