Dutchtown head coach Guy Mistretta wins wherever he goes. He puts in the time and studies the game as much as anyone I know. He is always prepared with the talent he has and wins games. I think if this Dutchtown team stays healthy, you will see a big-time team come playoff time. Moreover, if they can get strong quarterback play as well, they will have a chance to go deep in the playoffs because of their skill talent, coaching, and size overall. Coach Mistretta put together a great staff as the Griffins have three former high school head coaches on the staff: Mike Janis (Albany High School), TJ Davis (Silliman High School), and Paul Varnado (St. Michael’s High School)

“The kids & coaches have been working hard in the summer & fall to have a great season,” Mistretta said. “We will be very young on the Offensive Line and Defensive Backfield, we have the players, they just will need to step up during the season. We have some experience back combined with some talented young players. We just need to stay healthy like everybody else to make a run in the end. “

The offense returns an experienced quarterback in senior Ethan Aucoin (6-0, 185) who knows the offense and has improved for the 2023 season. The QB spot has competition in young QB Dylan Champagne (6-1, 180) has a good arm and is very athletic. The run game has athletic All-District senior RB Gary Dukes (5-10 180) back. The run game also has newcomer Lekedrin Harvey (6-0, 185) who has a lot of potential as a young player. The wide receiver group has experience and speed back in senior Tyler Adams (6-0, 184) and Casey McCoy (5-10, 175). The offensive line has some size and experience to make all this work for the run game in 2023. The Offensive Line is young but talented led by senior OG Chase Cangelosi (6-5, 290), OT Dawson Davis (6-3, 310), OT Christian Gautreau, senior OG Taylor Graham (5-10, 235) and senior center Jaden Green (5-10, 240. The O-Line will also receive some additional help with run blocking from athletic TE Dylan Dicharry (6-4 220) who has 4.65 speed and great hands. Dicharry is a major weapon in this running offense. The offense also has RB/WR Logan Mayeau (5-7, 165), who can play either spot with 4.6 speed.

The defense returns 5 starters and 4 are in the front seven for the program. The front will have some experienced leaders in seniors DE Zyan Tremont (6-3, 315), All-District DT Diego Spears (6-1, 290), LB Blake Bowie (6-0, 210) and All-District LB Carter Hanberry (5-11, 205). For the rest of the defense, you have talented DE Josh Lewis (6-5, 245), LB Mason Miles (5-10, 210), LB Brennan Baker (5-10, 195), three-year starter CB Kaden Mackey (5-9, 170, 4.5 speed), senior CB Chaz Smith (5-10, 155), FS Kobe Harris (5-10, 180) and SS Jeremy Jackson (5-11, 170).

On special teams, the kicker and punter will be Corbin Roussel (5-7, 170). The return game has speedsters back in kick return and punt return in Kaden Mackey and Lekedrin Harvey.
