"We lost 8-10 starters from the 2022 season. We will reload in 2023, but we will get a lot of help from the freshman class again, East Feliciana head coach Darius Matthews said.

The offense will still be one of the most athletic in the state in Class 2A. The QB will be Herman Baptist (6-1, 210) who has a big arm and big-time speed. The program has a second QB to take on the role next season with talented Markus Cannon (5-10, 175) who will play WR/CB to help the team in 2023. The run game will be strong again led by three-year starter Stanley Gilmore (5-11, 180, 4.5 speed) who will also play some wide receiver and safety for the team. There's also O’Maree Matthews (5-10, 225, Sr.) who is a sleeper and also starts at outside linebacker/defensive end for the team. Anthony Gibbs (5-10, 185) will help in the run game too. Gibbs has a great IQ in the game and is a tough player. The receiving corps WR/CB Takri White (6-0, 170, Sr.), WR/TE/DE Tre “Lynn Jarrell (6-4, 205), WR/CB Ryan Moore (5-8, 165, 4.5 speed) who is a tough fast player. There’s also TE/DE Bryal Flowers (6-3, 235) who can run a 4.7 forty.

Most of the linemen in the program will start both on the offensive and defensive lines led by OT/DT Amuri Barnes (6-5, 330) who is a big-time player, OL/DL Robert Washington (6-3, 255), OL/DL Tredeon Green (6-5, 320) and OL/DL Davien Irvin (5-9, 245) who is the leader of the offensive line.

The defense will start most of the offensive players above and also will start some younger players for the first time.

The Tigers had some players sign to play football: Mills Dawson QB (Prep School in Biloxi), ATH Quen’vraylon Dunn (McNeese State Walk-On) and SS Cameron Davis (McNeese State).
