“We had one of the best turnarounds in the state of Louisiana in 2022,” Coach Burnette said. “The program went 1-9 in 2021 and winning seven games in 2022 was huge for this program and kids.I think we have a better team this year. We have experience with game experience, We know what it's like to be in the playoffs with experience too. We will have a very talented defensive line with a very talented group of freshmen sophomores coming up to keep this program stable for a while.”

The offense will be led by QB Dezyrian Ellis (6-2, 180) who is a second-year starter with a lot of talent. The skill spots for the offense have a few players back in four-year starter WR/DB Javion White who is a two-way starter with 4.45 speed, WR Marshawn Whitley (6-1, 175, 4.45 speed), RB Kenyon Martin (5-10, 195) returns after missing last season with an injury, senior RB/WR Kenyon Grat (5-7, 160, 4.55 speed) and senior RB Jovar Dykes (5-10, 175) power and speed. The offensive line returns two-way starter OG/LB Garrett Hunt (6-1, 230), team captain and senior center Connor Perritt (6-0, 225) and OT/DT Cameron Plater (6-5, 245).

The defense, like Coach Burnette mentioned, will be led by the talented young defensive line. You have second-year starter DE/TE Chris Addison (6-4, 222), talented DT Derrick Martin (6-1, 250), DT/DE CJ Jones (6-0, 215, 4.65 speed) and second-year starter Tavion Bell (6-4, 230). For the rest of the defense you have All-District defensive backs senior Johnny Goods (5-10, 170) Avery Johnson (6-1, 170) who is in his second year of starting, three-year starter LB Carl Williams (5-9, 190, 4.6 speed), LB Garrett Hunt (6-1, 230), FS Treylon Martin (5-11, 180, 4.5 speed) who is a big-time hitter and there will be some younger players battling for minutes as well.

The Patriots special teams unit has a talented kicker in Cardill Jackson (5-10, 175), with a leg for over 50 yards right now. Jackson is also one of the team captains on the team.

Coach Burnette was a starting wide receiver for the Tulane Green Wave from 1997-2000. Burnette also played prep ball at Bastrop High School (Class 1997) where he played with a few future stars like Marcus Yanez (LSU), Talance Sawyer (UNLV), Mike Williams (Arkansas) and Troy Mann (UNLV).
