“The offense and quarterback play will be our strengths going into the 2023 season,” Grant High School head coach Jarvous Felton said. “The defense will be led by our linebackers as leaders.”

The offense returns 3 year starting senior QB Jackson Hedrick (6-0, 195) who has 4.65 speed in the forty or could be even faster. Most of the key skill players will be new and it is led by WR Keith McKinney (4.45 speed, WR Ahmad Sykes (6-2, 180, 4.45 speed) and converted RB Ryland Nation will bring some power for the run game as well. The offensive line returns one of its leaders in senior Landon Vallee (6-1, 270), OL/DL Ty Brown (6-0, 250), OL/DL Madden Blalock (6-1, 265) and a new starter in senior Hayden Edwards (6-3, 270). The rest of the line will be unproven young players.

The defense, like Coach Felton said, will be led by its linebackers. This unit starts with senior LB Kaden Chandler (6-0, 210), Landon Fredieu (6-0, 195) and DE/OLB Nic Gradney (6-4, 250). Other returning starters are DT Kourtland Elie (6-3, 280), DE Hunter Nelson (6-2, 220), CB Peyton Debusk (5-11, 180) and FS/SS Wyatt Maxey (6-0, 185). If these kids can stay healthy it will surprise a lot of people how good they can be along with some youth stepping up for depth.

The special teams has a talented Kicker in Conner Phillips (5-11, 180). Phillips has a deep range for field goals if needed.

Three players from the 2023 signing class from Grant signed in 2023 as RB Kareem Gaines signed with John Melvin University and OL Shaun McGlothlin signed with Butler Community (Kansas) and in two years or less will go DI as he’s very good. Eli Morrison will be walking on at UL Lafayette.
