Hamilton Christian ATH Javon Vital

This will be Head Coach Dexter Washington’s second term as the head football Coach at Hamilton Christian HS. He was the Head Football coach in 2021 they went 7-3. He is also the school’s head basketball coach and the school's athletic director. Dexter Washington went to high school at Plaisance HS in Opelousas (Class of 1980). Washington played basketball at Grambling and in the end, was an equipment manager for the legendary Grambling head coach Eddie Robinson. Washington is also the godfather of former LSU and new-orleans Saints WR Devery Henderson (LSU & Saints). Coach Washington coached at Opelousas HS from 1992 to 1996 and one of his former players is current Opelousas head coach Jimmy Zachary.

“We are in a “stop the run-first” district because not many teams we play throw the football so we need to prepare to stop teams running straight at you and solve that before anything else in 2023 as a team,” Washington said. “If we stay injury free I think we can compete and improve but that doesn't mean setting a bar of wins just to get better as a team and program in 2023.This school does have a really good group of athletes we just don’t have a lot of players.”

The Warriors have really good athletes but they just need to get through a long season without many linemen and the kids they do have are talented. The offense returns one of the most dynamic players in all of Lake Charles in ATH Javon Vital (5-9, 170), who will lead the offense as the quarterback but he will also start in the defensive backfield as well. Vital has 4.45 speed, great open-field stuff and a great arm for a guy.

Hamilton Christian WR/FS Prince Love

The skill talent on this team is talented and it is led by senior WR/SS/LB Sammy Knight (6-1 195) has 4.59 speed. You also have senior WR/FS Prince Love (6-2, 180), who is a transfer from Iowa HS and has a chance to be a player with a good year, WR/CB Garrett Humphery (5-8, 160) has great hands and runs great routes, new starter RB/LB/SS Kevin Lewis who has 4.6 speed and senior RB Kylan Alexander (6-1, 185) is also a noseguard for the team with 4.6 speed.

In the trenches there are multiple two-way starters including senior DE/OLB Messiah Simien (6-2, 210) who has a lot of talent and is a four-year starter, senior OG/C/DT Malachi Nolen (5-8, 225), OT/LB Jermilyn McGruder (5-10, 180), OL/DL Devin Rankins (5-11, 240), OT/LB Stephan Allen (5-11, 185) new starter and freshman center Grant Menard (5-9, 165) is a tough kid.

On special teams, kicker Noah Menard is also a WR starter for the team and has a really good leg as a freshman. Menard is no stranger to pressure as he started as an 8th grader in Baseball.
