Head Coach: David Perkins (1st year)

2022 Record: 3-7

Class & District: Class 2A (District 4)

Playoffs 2022: Lost to Parkview Baptist 31-0 in Division III (Select) Playoffs

This Menard team has 13 seniors and that’s a lot of older players for this program, which should play out well in the end for a great season.

“Good group of seniors coming back will be the nucleus of the team,” said head coach David Perkins. “We will have a new offensive system and defense system we installed this Spring and Summer. We like to run the ball and control the clock and play tough defense.”

Coach Perkins is no stranger to Menard football as he was the QB on the only undefeated Menard team in the regular season in 1978. The 1978 Menard team eventually lost in the state semifinals to finish with a 13-1 record. Coach Perkins also was the defensive coordinator for Menard HS from 2013 to 2020.

Holy Savior Menard RB/LB Cooper Scott

Menard’s offense has several options at QB as it has three kids who can all bring something to the table. QB Jake Vaughan (6'2, 200) has a strong arm and is a pretty good runner. 6-1, 205-pound QB Mike Henry has a strong arm and can really sling it downfield. The Eagles have their own version of Taysom Hill in athlete Gavin Hilton, who comes in to run the Wildcat and he can give you some long runs like a RB.

The run game will be led by three two-way starters who have both speed power and speed. RB/LB Cooper Scott (6’2, 215) is a four-year starter with 4.69 speed or faster and has a chance to be All-State in 2023. Senior FB Drake Aldredge (6’2, 240) has power and great feet. Aldredge is also a DE/TE for the team. Then, there’s the fast 5’9, 170-pound senior RB/FS Jayden Williams who has 4.5 speed. The program also has two really good WR’s on the team. Senior Matt Kirk (6'1, 180) has 4.6 speed and is the most athletic player in the program. Gavin Hilton, who has been clocked at 4.5 in the forty is a four-year starter at CB.

OL/DL Braylon Dusang

The trenches will be led by two-way starters in senior Braylon Dusang (6’3, 315) who was All-District in 2022, senior Drake Aldredge, three-year starter senior Gage Oser (5’11, 180) and senior Cooper Brown (6’0, 280).

The defensive backfield returns one of the best in the district in Gavin Hilton and senior leader CB Cody Lyons (5’10, 165), who will be a three-year starter in 2023.

The special teams will be strong this year as the unit is led by All-State kicker Ryan Hicks. Hicks (5’10, 165) was also the district MVP in Soccer in 2022. He has a big-time leg and will have a chance to play either football or soccer in when he’s done with high school football.
