By Lee Brecheen
Head Coach: Garrett Kreamer (1st year)
2022 Record: 4-6
Class & District: Class 5A & District 3
2022 Playoffs: 1st Round
The Mighty Lions are 3-2 on the young season. That’s a good record for a starting its toughest slate of a really tough Class 5A district.
The offense is led by new starter QB Kevon'te Landry (6-3, 190) who has a ton of athletic ability as he was a wide receiver in 2022. Landry is a hard worker and has all the tools to be a DI recruit. The rest of the skill spots around Landry are WR Malik Goodie (6-0, 180, Sr.), WR Alex Muffoletto (5-9, 170, Sr.), WR/TE Elijah Goodie (6-0, 180, Sr.), WR Jamieon Brown (5-10, 175), RB Jaron “Shark” Sallier (5-6, 150), RB Javante “Pencil” Howard (6-0, 170), WR/TE/HB Romelo Joseph (6-2, 182, Sr.), WR Braeden McCarty (5-8, 160) and RB Xzaban Williams (5-9, 170). The offensive line has Mark Schroeder (6-2, 230, Sr.), OL Triston Cormier (5-10, 210, Sr.), OT Dorion Moffett (5-11, 244, Sr.) and other young kids playing for the first time on the OL.
The defense will build around DT Zion Bowie (6-5, 310, Sr.), who lost some weight for the 2023 season as he looks and moves better. There’s also LB Dillon Pradier (5-11, 205, Sr.), a leader, CB Darrell Simmons (5-11, 170), SS Daylon Ben (5-9, 160, Sr.), ,SS/OLB Hayden Edmonson (5-10, 175), FS/SS Joseph Wright (5-9, 165), SS Kameron Johnson (5-9, 165), DT Ja’rod Anderson (5-9, 215) and DE/OLB Matt Rubin (6-2, 220).
