Lakeside lost three big-time linebackers to graduation in 2022. The school’s student enrollment is somewhere between 325 to 330 total, which made Lakeside the second smallest school in Class 2A to make the playoffs in 2022. The offense will have Air Raid concepts but in a Gun-T formation. The Warriors will lean with the run but also throw it.

“We have spots on the team where we are strong and other spots where we have no experience coming back in 2023,” said Lakeside head coach Mike Santelices. “We are installing a new offense & defense in 2023. Kids are learning the new system and by fall we should have a handle on the new schemes and systems we are showing them.As Head Coach I will be taking over the offensive coordinator duties also.”

The offense will be led by QB Brock Case, a new starter and young player with the potential to be a three-year starter for the program. The run game will be led by talented players senior Tamarjah Ferrel (5-8, 165) best athlete on the team and senior RB Jordan Case (5-10, 170). Case will also start at defensive back & Ferrel will play some receiver and corner too for the team. In the passing game you have WR James Maxie back with good hands and senior TE/FB Kam Gridsby (6-1, 230) with good hands too. The rest of the leaders and starters back are OL/DT Jamariln Evans (5-8, 210), senior OL/DT JaMarcus Tellis (5-9, 250), second-year starter OL/DT Bryce Parker (6-1, 235), second-year starter OLB Eli Santelices (5-10, 160) and senior CB Jeremiah Allen (5-9, 145).
