“We lost most of our productive players from last season,” LaSalle High School head coach Derek White said. “We had to play a new quarterback because of injuries in 2022. We do return a few key linemen. We are thin with linemen but the ones we have are good players. We need zero injuries to have a good season in 2023. “

The program is 3-1 in the young season in non-district play with wins over Tensas, Sicily Island and Merryville. This is the best-case scenario for this program early on getting wins.

Let’s start with the key lineman back in the program. The heart and soul of the trenches is four-year starter Jamorian Turner (6-2, 275, Sr.) who has great feet and should also play some defensive line. There’s also OG Haden Doughty (6-1, 280, Sr.), center Eli Peppers (5-5, 270, Sr.) who’s tough as nails, OL/DL Canaan Stowe (6-3, 245) who has good feet and OL/DL Matthew Thompson (6-3, 225, 4.9 speed).

The QB spot has two players, Kendrick Morrow (5-11, 170, Sr.), and QB Chase King (5-10, 170). Both can play and will play somewhere on the field when not playing QB.

Key skill players back are RB/DB Tanner Gagne (5-9, 195) with power the man back in the offense, second-year starter RB/LB Justin Valentine (5-57 145, 4.6 speed), WR/DB Sean Derr (5-9, 135), WR/DB Noah Parham (5-11, 150), WR/DB Hunter Bradford (5-11, 160, Sr.) who has 4.65 speed, WR/DB Tuff Street (5-10, 160) and WR/SS/OLB Cutler Ganey (5-11, 170) who leads the team in tackles in 2022 as a starter. The team also returns tough linebacker Hayden White (6-0, 170, Sr.) who is also a starter from the 2022 season.

Head Coach Derek White is a local graduate of LaSalle High School (Class of 1986). He also was a kicker at Northeast Louisiana (now known as ULM). Coach White is also the head softball coach at LaSalle High School as well.
