Head Coach Mike Greene has been coaching high school football for over 30 years. Before he became the coach at Loyola Prep, I knew him from his head coaching days at Fair Park HS (Now Booker T. Washington-Shreveport) and Airline HS in Bossier City.
Coach Greene is an alum of Loyola Prep when it was then known as Jesuit HS (Class of 1983). He played baseball for four years, where he started at shortstop for three years and started one year at third base at Centenary .
“We have so many new starters that it will be fun to see how they grow. Many players will get their first start in 2023. We had 31 players out for the spring, but we are expecting a big freshman group to join the squad in the fall to help us.”
The Flyers will have some experience back to lead in third-year starter senior RB/FB Reagan Coyle (5-10, 180), second-year starter OG/DT Jack Ebarb (5-9, 245), second-year starter TE/SS Carter Doyal (5-8, 180), second-year starter WR/SS Rowan Guthikonda (5-9, 170) (4.6 speed), second-year starter TE/DE Patrick Gosslee (6-1, 215), three-year starter senior OG Jack Coyle (5-9, 185) and senior LB/FB Jude Gaitan (5-11, 190), who is a talented second-year starter for the team.

The new QB for the program will be Colby Hamilton (6-4, 190) who was a TE/DE in 2022. Another option at quarterback is Calvary Baptist transfer senior Bryce Carpenter (5-10, 170) who can't play till Week 5 because of transfer rules. If the team has both of these kids then it will be a game-changer for the program later in the season.
Some more starters the program needs big years from in 2023 are WR/CB Casey Wall (5-7, 155) who is a playmaker with 4.6 speed, senior SS Aidan Kirby (6-1, 170), OG/DT Wyatt Lofton (5-9, 210), CB/WR Carter Ward (5-10, 155), RB/SS Mason Drake, senior RB/FS Holland Morris (5-6, 145) and some other young players will need to step up for depth.
