The Lutcher Bulldogs now have won nine state championships in Football. Head Coach Jenkins now has won two of those in 2016 & 2022. Coach Jenkins is a graduate of Lutcher High School and went to at both LSU and Ohio University. Before becoming head coach at Lutcher High School Coach, Jenkins was offensive coordinator at Lutcher High School from 2006 to 2012. as also head Coach for St. James High School from 2013 to 2015.
“We are really young on offense, so the defense will have to carry us in the beginning of the season,” Jenkins said. “We have nine starters back on defense from the state title team.”

After the departure of All-State QB D’Wanyé Winfield (signed with UL Lafayette) who accounted for 70 total touchdowns in 2022, the offense will have a new quarterback for the first time in two years with senior Quinn Smith (6-5, 190). Smith has a lot of upside due to his strong arm and should do well in his one season of waiting his turn. In case there’s an injury, the backup QB is the coach’s son, Zach Jenkins (5-10, 170), who will possibly be the guy in 2024 as the program’s QB. The run game does return experienced RB Trenton Chaney (5-9, 170, 4.5 speed) who had a 200-yard game in 2022 and can play some slot WR if the young backs come on strong early in the offense.

The wide receiver corps is deep and has some experience. The group is led by senior WR Luke Babin (5-9, 170), WR Damieum Marcell (5-11, 165) who had 30 catches with 11 touchdowns in 2022, WR Dwayne Winfield (5-9, 160, 4.5 speed) and WR Ashton Stark, a young talented freshman with 4.5 speed already. The offensive line will be young and will be led by senior Terryne Harris (5-10, 245), OL Logan Borne (5-11, 250), OL Jayden Michael (6-3, 260), OL Colin Hastings (5-11, 240) and OL J’haivon Johnson (6-1, 230).
The defense, as Coach Jenkins said, has nine starters back to carry the team in the first half of the season. The defensive front is strong, led by leader DT Brody Louque (6-0, 225) who had 89 tackles last season and defensive ends Reshad Sterling (6-4, 225) and Dale Smith (6-2, 220) who both had seven sacks each in 2022. The front seven also includes DT Caden Parquette (6-0,245), three-year starter LB Colin Roques (6-0, 210), LB Tariot Snowden (5-8, 180), three-year starter MLB Kai Brown (5-11, 210) who will also play some running back in 2023, LB Coy Ruiz (5-10, 185), and young talented DE De’Caleb Green (6-5, 185) will rotate in.

The defensive backfield is also very talented led by DB Jamari Taylor (5-9, 155), DB Derrick Jackson (6-0, 170, 4.5) speed, big-hitting three-year starter DB Brock Louque (5-9, 165) and DB Chaduthaddeaus Carter (5-9, 160). The program also gets back DB DeQuincy Alexander who missed all of the 2022 season with an injury. Alexander has experience and gives the team a lot of depth rotating in as a starter too.
