It will be interesting to see the new Many High School offense as they will throw the football more this year than they have in years past and I think it will be exciting to see that in 2023. Many High School has won three state titles in 2014,2020, & 2022. The Many programs also were state runner-ups in 2013 and 2019.

“The offense will have a little bit of a different look in 2023 as we will some spread but we will not stop running the football,” new Many High School head coach Dillon Barrett said. “We are led this year by our linebackers & defensive backs on defense and we will run a 4-2-5 defense in 2023.”

The offense will have a new QB in 2023. The program has two really good players who have been battling since the spring: senior Hayden Evans (6-2, 200) and Levi Booker (6-1, 200) pounds. Both kids have really good arms to throw the ball in the offense. The Tigers only attempted 12 passes in 2022, but that will change quite a bit in 2023 with these two talented kids under center or in the shotgun.

The run game will be strong again led by senior RB Jeremiah James (5-11, 205, 4.5 speed) who had over 1,400 all-purpose yards in 2022. You also have a few players that will rotate in like returning starter senior Trevor McLenden (5-10, 185) who is a gritty player who returns as a starter, RB/CB Kedrick Gosey (6-0, 190, 4.5 speed), RB/LB J.J. Anderson (6-1, 220). There’s also freshman RB Daniel Thomas who will one day become a good back and might get some carries in 2023.

The offensive line returns team leader OL/DE Ja’Korryen Smart (6-1, 250) team leader OG Javon Phathong (6-0, 260), center Bryan Webb (5-11, 220) and some younger players that are battling for the open spots. The passing game will return TE Mason Leach (6-4, 220) who caught five of the team’s 12 pass attempts last season in which three of those catches were touchdowns in 2022. There’s also WR/CB Trevor McLenden who has great hands and two-way starter WR/SS Josh Hendrickson (5-11, 195) two-way starter will figure in the passing game more in 2023 and others will make a name for themselves in fall practice.

The defense will be led by their Linebackers and defensive backs. LSU commit SS/OLB Tylen Singelton (6-3, 210, 4.5 speed) returns in his fourth year as a starter and as one of the best outside linebackers not only in Louisiana but in the nation. There’s also SS Josh Hendrickson, CB Trevor McLendon, CB Kentavius Maxie (5-10, 170) senior, MLB J.J Anderson (6-1, 220, 4.5 speed), CB/SS Kedrick Gosey (6-0, 190, 4.5 speed) who is a shutdown corner, three-year starter DE/OLB Garet Culverson (6-3, 210) and had two sacks in 2022 and big time leader three-year starter Swazy Carheel (6-3, 240, 4.65 speed) who had five sacks in 2022 and a motor that runs all day.

The special teams unit returns big-time kicker Deacon LaFollette (6-2, 180), who hits the end zone on most of the time on kickoffs like a D1 kicker.

Former Many LB Tackett Curtis signed with USC and it would not shock me if he’s in the two-deep right away in the fall for them at 6-3, 225 pounds.
